The local press is saying that Milton will make landfall right about in Venice, which is south of Tampa. I don’t know about that. I am no weather expert, but I can look at a map. The NHC says the hurricane as of noon is at 26.0N, 84.2W and moving at 17 mph at a heading of 035deg. This website draws me a map where you can put in starting coordinates, heading, and speed, and this is what it shows for 10 hours worth of movement:

In order to come ashore at Venice, it needs to take a pretty hard turn, and the longer it waits, the harder the turn will be needed.

About the only thing the govt comes close to doing right is the NHC site. That and ventusky I use exclusively. The center of the track is clearly shown.

We are currently hunkered down and waiting for this mess to be over. Scary that a scant two miles from The Boneyard a tornado touched down and destroyed a number of homes in N. Ft. Myers.

Keep safe my man. I know you will and I know you’re probably going to be dealing with a number of folks that might be making poor choices.

I have friends that are first responders that will be out in the teeth of it and God bless you all.

Also to the plethora of power workers I’ve seen in drives all across the area.

I was watching a weather guy explain the upper level winds were blowing due East and at a certain point, the storm could make a hard right.

I use Ventusky too when I have to pay attention.
I would like for ventusky to add a front overlay.
Seeing the stearing currents different altitudes gives you a real good idea of b where a hurricane is heading and why.
Plus, it is mesmerizing.
