For months, we have been seeing stories about Britney Griner, the Woman’s Basketball player who protested the US, taking a knee and complaining about the US and its supposed unfairness to women. She get caught smuggling weed into Russia and was sentenced to prison. The penal colony she was sent to was supposedly inhumane torture.
Contrast that with the treatment being received by Pete Schwartz, who was convicted of four counts of felony assaulting, resisting, or impeding law enforcement officers using a dangerous weapon; interfering with a law enforcement officer during a civil disorder; obstruction of an official proceeding, and related charges. for his supposed participation in the J6 riots, even though he claims he never entered the Capitol or even had pepper spray on him on January 6. Even if the allegations are true, the trial was a farce. He was tried alongside three other defendants and was denied a separate trial. Since when does that happen in a case where the defendant faces up to 40 years in prison? (I love how police claim he stole “a wooden tire thumper” and used it on other cops. Let’s call it what it is- a club for beating people. )
Contrast that with Griner. She was released from prison today in a deal that saw President Biden free a Russian Arms dealer who was sentenced to 25 years for terrorism charges in connection with selling handheld SAMs to FARC. Meanwhile, a US Marine convicted of espionage remains in Russia, rotting in jail for the next 16 years. You and I both know that this smells like a “if you get caught, we will disavow you” op from the CIA.
You can bet your ass that Griner will still run her mouth about how unfair the US is, even though she has both seen how other countries do business and had the US free a terrorist to get her out.
This country now has one of the most evil governments on the planet. Perhaps that’s been the case for decades, and now they just aren’t bothering to hide it any longer.

I had no problem with Griner staying in Russia as a convicted person and would not have played a chip for her return in the first place. Wonder what spectator reaction will be at her first game.
Regarding Whelan, not being one I wonder if Marines include those who disgrace the Corps by receiving a Bad Conduct Discharge in their “once a Marine, always a Marine” group. I really don’t know. Personally, his BCD removes him for any sentiment I have for the Corps and relegates him to purely American citizen status. But then he is a citizen of three other countries, so I have to wonder what, if any, efforts have been made on his behalf by those countries.
I abhor the conditions of any Russian penal colony where either of them or anyone else was/is kept, but that is a separate issue from justified versus unjustified incarceration.
The entire situation has so many nuances I find it hard to track.

A BCD is a misdemeanor. That isn’t my issue. The issue here is that his arrest has CIA all over it.

Whelan served with the Marine Corps Reserve from 2003-2008, much of the time as an administrative clerk in Iraq. At the end of that period, he was dishonourably discharged for larceny and other lesser offences, after being found to have tried to steal $10,000.
So who do you go for to get released

Exactly right. I don’t know if every state in the nation has the legal requirement to let the neighborhood know when a pedophile is living in the area, but they probably do. So, why are schools and libraries having drag queen story hours? It begs the question: why have pedophile notifications if the enemy is invited into the henhouse? Even Russian news is making fun of the U.S.A…. and why shouldn’t they? We promote fags in the military, we have open they/thems in the fed government, a queer spokesperson for president (the fake one), soldiers wearing dog masks while in uniform, ships named after faggots, civil war generals statues being removed, J6rs not having right to trials or to meet with lawyers…all in the lol…land of the free and home of the brave. America is no longer free, and there is nothing brave about being an open fag in the world. No matter how many pride events there are…there ain’t any pride in someone not being heterosexual. Russia is dead on right. America is a fucking joke.
