There is scarcely a whit of difference between the Leftists and Repugs. Both are working together to become millionaires on a SNIP: According to the official website of the U.S. Senate, a senator receives $174,000 each year. This figure has remained the same since 2009.

And always get re-elected (WHAT 19% approval rating but 98% Re-election rate?).

This ain’t going to pass unless a boatload of dumbrocrats vote for it. But the Freedom Caucus in the House may shoot down McCarthy over it.

Trump wants us to default. He may not be wrong. Default today or in five years may be the only choice that we have.

Default is a given. The only stipulation is that it will come not in an orderly, arranged fashion, but in a disorderly, chaotic fashion. No politician has the testicular fortitude to make the move that actually triggers the collapse. So, the trigger will likely be an exogenous event, rather than a decree by what passes for the US govt now. And yes, it will cause an unfathomable level of suck for us.

Compare this situation to Spain, which during the period where it exerted significant power in the world, including the exploration of the then “new world”, defaulted on It’s sovereign debt multiple times. Further, it did this while it was extracting copious amounts of gold from areas the of the new world they controlled, and kept the gains from the acquisition of that gold while telling it’s debt holders to piss off.

Of course, there weren’t many big players then who could do much about it, at least in immediately retaliatory terms. In the 21st century, Russia and China have enough juice – both economic and military – to make it hurt badly when the US is finally forced to declare it’s debts null and void. But rest assured, that day is coming.
