People on social media are always saying that we shouldn’t be allowed to shoot people who break into our homes. It’s just stuff, after all, and we have insurance, they say. Until the burglar decides to murder everyone in the house, that is.

That’s a Marxist trope that cries about not using lethal force to protect “stuff.” It’s about the reduction and elimination of property rights. In the old days property was an extension of the owner, so an attack on that was an attack on the person. Once they succeeded in lowering property rights, they came for people too. Next thing you know when they are trying to kill you suddenly the law says you must retreat and try to find away to escape. We need to get back to the way things used to be.

A few states (Hawaii being one IIRC) actually require a person to retreat from their own residence. More states (Missouri for one I am sure of) basically justify use of deadly force against a person even attempting to burglarize an occupied residence, even including a person’s vehicle.

So sad!! I’m in the commie state of Connecticut and “find a way to retreat” is the law!!
It’s my stuff that I worked 50+ years for.
Screw that crap, in my small ranch house both doors are in the front.
Not going to try to jump out a window in the back of the house!! Especially with the screen down!!
Judged by 12 or carried by 6, easy choice!!
As long as my aim is true…

IF someone has enough disrespect to break into MY residence, what makes me think they’ll have enough respect for my life not to take it also??

It is reasonable to assume that someone who has decided to rob your person or break into your house has also decided to use violence should you resist. Obviously we don’t want to fire randomly into the darkness…
There are also more nuanced angles to the “it’s just stuff” argument.
I may have chosen to burn up part of my life to get that stuff. You know, by spending long days ACTUALLY WORKING and maybe four or more hours each day commuting to work. That stuff may be stuff that I consider important to the well-being of my family or it may simply be stuff that I like because I appreciate art, or classic cars or [LOL] ceramic figurines. Why that stuff is important to me is only subject to MY judgement. I used up part of my life to acquire it and it is probably not possible to reacquire it after some POS steals it. The theft is not “just stuff”, it is a part of MY LIFE that is stolen. High speed projectiles are fully justified. Lots of them. Until MY STUFF is secured.
Here are a few thoughts that are related. Many people talk about a coming collapse, primarily financial, and the resulting chaos. My guess is that the “collapse” will be slow. Job opportunities decline, wages stagnate, inflation make things increasingly difficult for all but a few. Along with that will come increasing incidence of theft. It’ll likely be a slow burn.

No pictures of the suspect. Figures

Cross my threshold uninvited. You will be met with “caliber du jour”.
Either that or maybe you’ll be bludgeoned – most likely to death.

Forgive my rant.
To the “it’s just stuff” crowd can fuck right off. If you enter my home without my personal invite, not only are you trespassing but I assume there to injure me and my family. It is self defense at that point. If you happen to live in a state that does not recognize that right then MOVE!
Gun control is dead, or rather, on intensive life support. The NFA is on shaky ground, GCA 68 is in peril, and Breuen will most likely prevail within the next decade or less. Join your state level.org and GET ACTIVE! Work on your legislatures and get these laws changed. Bitch and moan and kvetch and get pissed! Be civil until you need to get shitty with them. Change these laws and pass better ones.
You have the power. Don’t be a pussy!
Trust me. I speak from experience.
