Read this guy’s perspective on rights:

Ludwig believes that all rights come from government. That’s patently ridiculous. If I were alone on an island, I would have the right to speech. I could keep and bear arms. The only way that I can lose those rights is if someone takes them from me.

That’s why government morally exists- to keep others from taking your rights. This is why we have a Constitution that lays out the powers of government- what that government CAN do, and what it CAN NEVER do.

Not so in Mr. Ludwig’s world. He believes that, unless there is a government present that tells me I may speak, I simply don’t have the right to do so. That’s fundamentally out of line with the ideas of the Founders of this Nation, whose thoughts on this were based upon the philosophies of John Locke and Thomas Hobbes.

This is where the left gets the idea that food, shelter, clothing, and healthcare are human rights. They are not, and they never have been. If I have a human right to any of those things, it follows that I can force someone to provide it to me.

Enter a law forcing someone to pick my cotton, my oranges, build my houses, and perform free healthcare services. Even enacting price controls is a form of slavery, and to claim otherwise is exactly the same thing as saying “if I only put the tip in, it isn’t rape.”

The saddest part of this, is that Mr. Ludwig is an attorney. His college failed him when they failed to teach the basics of the Constitution and its underlying philosophy.

The Democrats always telegraph where they’re going. If your rights come from the government, they can be revoked. If your free speech is hate speech, hate speech will be prohibited. Your healthcare, food source and energy source must all be heavily regulated by the government to protect us from(nonexistent) global warming. They reveal their playbook in bits and pieces. I have no doubt that one day they will be completely in charge and will be bold about imposing dictatorial control over everything and everybody. They are truly evil people. Frankly, the Republicans are not much better. Probably worse, because they disguise their true intentions. The Democrats tell you they’re coming to steal your money and put you in prison.

Is this somehow a surprise that a .GOV member believes only .GOV has the power to decide whats a right and what isn’t allowed? Funny how all these people are now openly stating what they think is the truth. Ever wonder why they are SO brave now?
As for him being a lawyer, no surprise there either, lawyers are responsible for all the bullshit lawyer speak wordings in our whole system. Its not designed to help the people , its to confuse and tie everything up in a knot so Guess who makes money from deciding what it means it.
BTW, who do the corrupt Judges come from? You guessed it, Lawyers.

It was more than a little surprising to hear Kaine utter those words. He’s not a stupid or uneducated man, raised a Catholic, Harvard Law, etc. I struggle to understand how he could arrive at thinking natural rights come from anywhere other than higher authority/Creator/God. It suggests that a dozen years in the DC swamp is more than enough to warp any mind.

Reverse it. He got his job because he already believed that.

You don’t get elected as a democrat until you’ve already worshiped at the altar of Government gives rights.

When are we going to outlaw the Democrat party as antithetical to American culture?

Its not JUST the DEMO Commies. Its the Repubtards as the faithful Robin to the Commie Batman.
The entire governmental/election system has been corrupted but that’s what happens with Republics thru history.
The ENTIRE system has to redone to correct the mistakes that allow gerrymandering and 1 or 2 cities in a large state to control the states vote count or the 13 cities/counties that decide the elections regularly…..

As someone who has actually been present during a UN/US monitored foreign free election. Its sure funny how we push paper ballots, 1 person 1 vote and ink stain the fingers for proof but not here. But when we want to rig a foreign election we push the electronic systems now.. Ever been curious as to why that is??

The guys a politician. That likely means he’s a power hungry asshole.

When it first hit the news what Sen Kaine – Communist-Virginia said my first thought was how many of his Senate colleagues were nodding their heads in agreement.
Commie Comrade Ludwig just wants to ensure that he’s on board with their plans.

Dan · September 5, 2025 at 5:19 pm

A significant percentage of society is fundamentally n Communist in their outlook on life and how society should function. They cannot be cured. They cannot be converted. And if allowed into positions of power and authority they WILL seek to destroy freedom in the name of control. ALWAYS.

Rights come from God.
Government is made up of people and destined to FAIL.
Human nature hasn’t been conquered and there is no New Man.

I find it both hilarious and pathetic that the subject of natural rights gets defined as a religious issue. Saying that our rights come from God is, for some, a heartfelt and religious statement. For others it is a traditional way of expressing that by virtue of being human we have inherent rights that cannot be separated from our humanity. You can say the exact same thing without any mention of god. Whether you prefer the religious form or the secular form those rights are still part of being human. Neither form of understanding that is superior to the other.

Tim Kaine feels he has to disagree because either he, or his party, or both, can’t acknowledge religion, and all he has left is the government. It’s a stupid position because he cannot understand that the subject doesn’t shift shape depending on your viewpoint or your beliefs.

A shared understanding of natural rights is the basis of our republic. Our Founding Fathers understood human nature and tried to build a nation that was resistant to the darker side of human behavior. Our Constitution defines a government that theoretically supports our natural rights, largely by forbidding the government from interfering with those same rights.

And Ludwig is a twit: our natural rights are protected by our natural inclination to defend ourselves. Our Bill of Rights offers a bit of help with that.

I concur. A natural right is nothing more than a way of saying “You can do what you want, as long as it harms no one else.”

Pat H. Bowman · September 6, 2025 at 7:33 am

Isn’t it funny how in one breath these commies will tell us that rights only come from big daddy government, but in the next, remind us that they alone possess the wisdom and knowledge to determine those rights. And if you or I don’t like their version of it, well that’s tough cookies and off to jail you go. Their day is coming and as Bill Bupert likes to say, “Karma is a stone cold MF’r.”

Gerry · September 6, 2025 at 9:09 am

I was under the impression that those rich white men wanted a government that protected individual rights, not generated them. But I went to school long ago when they taught civics and US history.

SoCoRuss · September 6, 2025 at 12:09 pm

ANY Right that has to be given by .GOV, can be taken away by .GOV. So its not a right its a permission..

Sound familiar?
