I was at my rental property, getting some work done, since its vacant. One of the neighbors approached me. I have hardly spoken to the guy. All I know is that he is some kind of golf instructor. He does have Trump stickers all over his pickup truck.
He says to me that he has heard that I do some hobby machine work on guns. Then asks if I am willing to convert his AR or at least teach him how to convert his AR into full auto.
I told him that he was misinformed. I don’t do anything like that and don’t know how.
This is the third time someone has asked me to do something like that.

That is an abrupt way for the man to approach you. Either he’s stupid or he’s up to something.
Although I hate to be this way — I trust nobody I don’t know.

I’m surprised they even ask any longer, since the Glowies could just A.I. an admission that you Do, Indeed, Do that sort of stuff…

I would have asked him “what’s an AR? I’ve never heard of that.”
Then again, it would just turn a 10-second brush-off into a 20 minute time waster.

I’m always surprised at how many CIs are around. I remember working a clinic in Nashville many many years ago. In one day I had two patients who said their occupation was “informant.”
I’m reminded of a conversation I had about 30 years ago after I gave a lecture at the FBI academy in Quantico. I sat down at lunch next to one of the other speakers and we started talking about a case in the news. I said I wondered if the defendant was really guilty. He laughed and said “You don’t understand. There are no innocent people. There are only untargeted people.”

It is unlikely that all three were actual feds. Probably feds watch your website and would like to squash it because it is not narrative-friendly. Offering people money to ask you for incriminating information is a low-investment op. Next they’ll ask you to hacksaw a shotgun barrel.

Last time I read about that situation, they killed Randy’s son and wife.

Like Danny said, “I trust nobody I don’t know.” I am damn leery of those I do know. If a buddy or relative or stranger came up to me asking that or something similar that would be my response and cut off all any and all intercourse with ’em. They could be up on charges or a CI I don’t care. Over the “covid” crap, I estranged myself from family members, medical providers, friends and have not suffered or regretted it at all.

INDEED!!!

Tell him there are secret Youtube channels that will show him how to do it. Say you accidentally came across one once and it appeared Antifa related. That ought to tie up some resources for a while as well as give the twits running Youtube a headache

Bad idea! That counts as an admission….enough to get a wedge in. For example….raid to seize all electronic devices to investigate what films these are, and what else may be there.
Don’t be a dope….just say nope!

Tell him you have no idea, but you heard of this thing on the news called the Dark Web, but you have no idea what it is or how to get to it, but the report said that’s where criminals supposedly buy their guns and drugs.
That too should tie them up for a while.

A glowie Smith? You’re doing it right.

Of course, the simplest and totally legal way is to buy a fully automatic lower receiver made before the Hughes Amendment was passed, then put whatever compatible upper receiver you want on it. The rest is just paperwork and tax. Oh, and thanks to the Hughes Amendment imposing artificial scarcity, lots of cash.

Sounds like a precursor to a Ruby Ridge scenario.

Just about everyone knows that that is illegal as Hell and earns you a direct ticket to Club Fed for YEARS.
Anyone and I mean anyone who asks you that, your antenna should go all of the way up and cut off contact with them because they are either undercover LEO or more likely a CI.
You know, it breaks my heart to see our country transform into East Germany in the 1980s with CIs and snitches everywhere, “your papers please” and they can now legally strip search you and go into your phone and do a fishing expedition.
lynn · October 13, 2025 at 3:27 pm
In most conversations like this, one of the participants is a fed.
Robert · October 13, 2025 at 7:10 pm
Not a Fed. A confidential informant (“CI”). Somebody who got jammed up on a Federal charge and was told they could get it dropped if they worked a deal to entrap some other targeted person.
The CI could be someone you have known for years. The red flag is a sudden request to do something illegal.
Feds work a CI until they are no longer productive and then usually turn them over for prosecution. It is much cheaper than using undercover LEO’s.
That guy in your group who has the really cool toys, shady plans, plenty of money, and “a job that requires a lot of travel” is the Fed. The quiet guy who seems upset about something personal and “doesn’t want to talk about it” is probably the CI.

I’m an FFL – Two years ago, I had a request for an uncommon type of AR. The requester, who I didn’t know, said he was going to take it to a guy he knew who could convert it to full auto.
Amazingly, I suddenly couldn’t find what he wanted…

Terry Davis said it best.
Get one of the CIA glowie stickers and put it on his truck
Dan · October 15, 2025 at 2:46 pm
Yeah….avoid people who ask such things. Someone asking for such a favor is how Randy Weaver got jammes up by the Feds.
