Dodge is cancelling the Hemi V8, despite the fact that it is an immensely popular engine. Why? Woke bullshit. Bad decisions like this are why the government shouldn’t bail companies out of financial woes.
There are those who can’t stand that you can get into your privately-owned vehicle at any time of the day or night and drive virtually anywhere you please. These budding authoritarians view that and all other forms of personal freedom as threats to their power.

This will nick their sales for sure, especially on trucks. The RAM with a V8 has been selling quite well, meanhwile the big diesel has been dogged by reliability issues related to the DEF system, giving it a bad reputation and thereby a less popular stand in for the gas V8.
All I see resulting from this change are more F-150’s being sold, unless Ford also drops the V8 on their trucks, and they probably will cave too as just another bunch of corporate woketards. A turbo 6 might cut it in a commuter truck, but for a serious work vehicle hauling weight, it’s a joke. Even if it develops the equivalent HP to the V8 , it’s being run harder and will suffer from shortened lifespan and more repair issues. I’ll pass.

Two side notes:
HP in a work engine doesn’t mean crap, TORQUE rules power. A 600HP Hemi might pull 80,000 pounds, but not long, not fast, not uphill. Yet a 400HP Cummins will pull 80,000 pounds for years, over 100 mph and it’ll cross the Rockies with no problems.
You’re correct, a hard working V6 won’t work as hard or last as long as a 8.

I’ve been thinking about selling my Charger and getting back into a truck. Now I’ll have to rethink it being that my car is a bit of and odd duck, it’s one of the last (built Aug 2014) of the V8 AWD Chargers and at only 43K on the odometer it’s still got plenty of life left.
