I am still on the text messaging group that my (now former) job uses to communicate with employees. I just got a text message that all employees need to attend a mandatory training session on Tuesday the 23rd so they can be trained on the new Philips cardiac monitoring system that is being installed on Wednesday the 23rd. It seems that they just spent a quarter of a million to replace 3 year old monitoring system with a new monitoring system. Now I know why they can’t afford to pay anyone.

Sounds to me like Philips Medical Devices division has a very effective salesperson for your region of the country. I’ll bet she has great tits and ass, if they followed the formula typically employed by the pharmaceutical companies. Gotta convince the executive in charge of procurement to junk a 3 year old capital investment somehow.

It’s all graft. All the way down.

Great T&A? There better be some perks for mandatory with buffet and drinks since cost is not an issue.
I miss mIRC sometimes where we had locals only and would occasionally meet up in meatspace.
Found a bone growth stimulator that still works behind the Sack-N-Save as the dumpsters are like Kings Island to the locals, I’ll let family use it in case it is needed after a surgery.
Examples of waste and overprice mania is the bone growth stimulator listed at thousands brand new, 100$ on Feebay and the local poor folks hospital vision center eyeglasses $330 when you could get about four pairs at the local Visionworks at that price, another is the $5000 hearing aid for oldsters that is not covered by mommygov mchealthcarez.

Don’t forget the game tickets, golf rounds at the local PGA tour course, etc.

I was thinking somebody’s brother-in-law was selling the monitoring system

That thought had occurred to me too. We’ve reached that uncomfortable stage in the terminal decline of empire, where save for nepotism and corruption, virtually nothing would ever get done.

Also, hat tip to The Magnificent Vigo, I like the screen name. It got a genuine chuckle out of me.

If it’s a non – profit, they need expenditures. Or, as they call it, “excess revenue over expenditures.” It’s why our hospitals have continuous construction and rebuilding. They have a boat – load of cash and need to spend it. Or they lose their tax – exempt status.

But don’t discount the HOT sales rep. The former medical equipment company I worked for had them, and they were all extremely wealthy, and very HOT. Dr.s and administrators being led around by their genitals…

So why not spend it to be competitive with salary of other area hospitals?
The place where I (formerly) worked is the lowest paid hospital for staff within 100 miles. That’s why they are paying so many contract nurses $85 an hour to cover the labor shortfall.
