Breaking: Mass Shooting Near Orlando

An argument at a nightclub in Sanford, which is near Orlando, resulted in a 16 year old choirboy who was just turning his life around shooting a total of 10 people in the legs, because he can’t shoot for shit. For anyone who wants to use this as support for gun laws, let’s recap:

So explain to me how one more law would have changed this.

Stories From the ED

A young adult woman comes to the ED, having been brought there by her mother for having abnormal behavior. Displaying many of the classic signs of mental illness, she is obviously having a mental health crisis. The mother even said that she woke up in the middle of the night with her daughter standing over her with a large knife in her hand. The doctor considered her to be a threat to her own or someone else’s safety, and subsequently signed the Baker Act paperwork.

As I always do, I am explaining to the young lady that she is being held on an involuntary 72 hour psychiatric hold. I am trying to explain the rules to her- she can’t wear her own clothes, can’t have any of her possessions with her, she will be searched, and she can’t go home.

As I am doing that, the mother keeps hovering and trying to talk to her. The girl keeps trying to negotiate and delay: begging her mother to take her home, asking to go to the bathroom, and looking over my shoulder at the exit, obviously planning an escape. The mother keeps insisting that the girl can’t change clothes with me in the room, needs to be permitted to use the bathroom without a male present, kept blathering on about the woman’s rights, and said that she wanted to “take it all back” and sign her daughter out. I explained that it doesn’t work like that. Legally, once the doctor signs that order, the only person who can cancel it is a psychologist, and that is after the patient is examined by that psychologist. The doctor who signed the order can’t even rescind it.

After over an hour of trying to deal with this, I finally told the mother that she needed to be quiet for a minute so I could do my job. She replied with: “Wow! You’re rude.” I called security to come over so we would have someone that is wearing a body camera there for backup. Then I told the mother: “This is how it’s going to be: Your daughter, my patient, needs to be supervised and has to be within sight of a staff member at all times for her own safety. She doesn’t get to decide who or how that is going to happen, as that is all done according to state law and hospital policy. She is going to take her clothes off and put on these paper clothes voluntarily, or I am going to cut her clothes off and dress her by force. If she resists, I will sedate her. If you continue to impede my ability to provide patient care, I will have you removed. This isn’t a debate, it isn’t a negotiation, and this isn’t a courtroom. That’s how it’s going to be. You can either let me do my job in caring for your daughter and I will allow you to stay, or you can keep getting in the way and I will ask you to leave.”

The patient continued to argue and resist, so I gave her 10mg of Haldol after which we got her dressed in the paper gown, and put her down for her nappy nap. I put a hospital employee in her room as a safety sitter. Mom filed a complaint, and when the charge nurse came over to talk to me about it, she said, “I was waiting for you to have enough of that. You were more patient than I would have been.”

Found Gun

An 11 year old was killed in St. Petersburg, Florida after being shot by his 14 year old brother with a stolen gun while the two boys and their 13 year old sister were home alone.

The gun had been reported stolen from a car less than 48 hours before the shooting. Amir’s 14-year-old brother told detectives he found the gun in a nearby alley, and said the family didn’t know it was in the home.

Sure- he “found” it. I will bet you that the kid is the one who stole it. A kid uses a stolen gun to shoot and kill his younger brother, and the people who get blamed are honest gun owners, specifically the one whose gun was stolen.

“It’s easy access for them to get the guns and that’s not good, and like I was telling them before, me and some friends of mine, we’re in the process of trying to get a program together, a youth program together, to guide these youth and do some sort of prevention stuff, because when it gets to this point, it’s too late. You got a family grieving, got an 11-year-old gone,” Walls said. “He was a good kid and at this point, it’s too late.”

Kovacsev said the teen will not likely be charged 

Last year, 251 guns were reported stolen in St. Pete and 173 of them were taken from cars. Don’t leave a gun in your car. That is where it is more likely to be stolen than anywhere else. If you have kids in the house, don’t leave it unsecured at home. Lock that shit up when you aren’t home. Be a responsible gun owner.

They Want You Dead

Let’s connect the dots. The leader of the Columbia student protests says that:

  • white supremacists and Zionists are supporters of genocide
  • Since the world is better off without these people, they deserve to be murdered.
  • All whites are racists

The left is telling us what they want to do.

Congress had hearings where they claimed that there were 200,000 so-called ‘hate crimes’ in the US each year, and named off ways to eliminate them.

stop vilifying Muslims, LGBTQ individuals, and immigrants, and stop calling white supremacists fine people.

They are forgetting that the “fine people” trope isn’t what was said- the entire story was, and remains, a hoax that was a misquote. What Trump actually said was:

Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. 

In support of all of this, the left claims that more than half of all hate crimes based upon race are ones where blacks are the victims. Hate crime with race as its basis are judged by criteria that allows selection bias to cherry pick crimes so as to get the results that the picker is looking for.

This tells us exactly what this asshole and the rest of those assholes on the left want to do. They are TELLING you that they want you dead.

I Should Know Better

News6 in Orlando has their panties in a twist over 17 people statewide who died after being sedated in Florida over the past decade. Every time I try to comment on an article on this website, it gets censored for violating community standards, because lefties have to be protected from facts.

You have a violent psychotic person that is a danger to themselves and everyone around them. Now explain how you get that violent person under control. There are only a few ways to stop someone who is out of their minds in a violent rampage:

  • You can shoot them.
  • You can sedate them.
  • You can beat them into submission.

Which of those is the least likely to cause lasting harm? The ones who died are being killed because they are using some sort of illegal drug, whose effects can’t be predicted because criminal drug dealers can’t be bothered with things like quality control. The drug user, who already likely has mental issues BEFORE becoming an addict, then becomes violent, delusional, and psychotic.

So an EMS crew administers a sedative. Those sedatives are safe and effective, and get used thousands of times every day in the state of Florida without incident. (Just yesterday, I gave Versed to a 5 year old. She did fine, and all that happened to her was she took a nap) The problem here is that the sedative interacts with the unknown substances that the violent drug abuser is using, and the results are unpredictable, and sadly, sometimes fatal.

Of course they are given without consent. A person who is out of their minds while under the influence of drugs can’t legally give consent, any more than a person in cardiac arrest can. That statement is enough for me to realize that this entire article is clickbait.

Just yesterday, I gave Narcan, Fentanyl, Versed, Morphine, and Dilaudid to patients- some of them without consent. They all lived, because most of them weren’t drug fueled psychotics.

The White Person Tax

If you remember about 40 years ago, it was illegal to charge people more for using credit cards than those who used cash. In attempt to get around the law, businesses began offering products at a set price, then offering a discount for cash.

California politicians, being stymied in their efforts to hand out some government money as reparations, have brought the idea of discounts as a subsidy back.

It’s the white people tax.

California’s emerging reparations package includes two contentious proposals that would single out reparations-eligible black Californians for special treatment: one would order all the state’s professional licensing bodies to expedite their applications, while another would subsidize their property taxes by up to $4,000. The package would create the “California American Freedman Affairs Agency”—a permanent state bureaucracy—to decide which Californians should receive reparations benefits and to make sure they are doled out. It would be funded through a separate proposal to siphon off budget reserves specifically for reparations.

A bureaucratic agency would tax white people at a rate that is $4,000 higher than blacks, slow walk their applications for professional licenses, and take other punitive measures. Next up is sure to be a law that requires white owned businesses to display signs identifying them as such.

How do you know?

Couple arrested for pointing a rifle at a daycare center while taking bodybuilding photos.

This couple was using a rifle as a photo prop in a densely populated area. That was stupid, so let’s get that out of the way. However, the rest of the article and the charges are just as dumb. One of the charges was exhibiting a firearm on school property. It’s a strip mall, so the parking lot isn’t the grounds of a school. According to the center’s website and licensing information (It’s Devon Aire Kiddy College) they have a total of 13 children receiving voluntary pre-K out of the 90 or so kids who are ‘enrolled’ there. Pre-K isn’t elementary, middle, or secondary school, so the 1,000 foot restriction doesn’t apply:

 in the presence of one or more persons in a rude, careless, angry, or threatening manner and not in lawful self-defense, at a school-sponsored event or on the grounds or facilities of any school, school bus, or school bus stop, or within 1,000 feet of the real property that comprises a public or private elementary school, middle school, or secondary school, during school hours or during the time of a sanctioned school activity, commits a felony of the third degree,

The daycare center in question is in a strip mall. Florida has no requirement that schools be registered or licensed. So even if this law did cover daycare centers, how is anyone supposed to know when they are within 1,000 feet of a daycare center?

“Scientists”

A group of scientists have declared that lobsters, shrimp, and cuttlefish are sentient and conscious. The specialties of the scientists?

A review of the signatories on this declaration indicates most of the expertise is in philosophy, psychology, and environmental studies.

They are no more qualified to comment on this than I am on any number of random subjects. By using the term “scientists,” they attempt to claim an expertise that they do not possess. It’s like that time a bunch of Doctors expounded on gun control.

Just because you have expertise in one field doesn’t mean that you have been granted any special wisdom in any other.

The Third Subculture

Back in November, NPR did this interview where they identified three gun subcultures

Recreational- hunting and target shooting, with this group focusing on hunting rifles and shotguns

Defense- self defense. This group supposedly focuses on handguns

Second Amendement. They claim that this group has come about over the last ten years, and focuses on a belief system and primarily “assault style weapons.”

The key admission here is this:

But we do know that about 1-in-20 Americans now own an assault-style rifle. And about 1-in-5 gun owners own an assault-style rifle. We know that manufacturing of this style of rifle has increased dramatically since the end of the assault weapons ban, the federal ban that ended in 2004.

So right around then, assault-style rifles accounted for about 2% of all guns manufactured in the U.S. And in 2020, that same style of gun accounted for about 25% of guns manufactured in the U.S. 

Sounds like “in common use” to me. But I think those numbers illustrate just how many gun owners there are. Do the math- If 5% of Americans and 20% of gun owners own an “Assault style rifle” that means 25% of Americans own a firearm. They are trying to say that 90 million people own 600 million firearms and billions of rounds of ammunition.

If even 1% of them decide that they are going to resist the government with arms, the cops and military are outmanned and likely outgunned. Remember that at the height of Afghanistan, there were about 20,000 insurgents, and those 20,000 goatherders kicked the US military’s ass. Now imagine that there are 900,000 insurgents, some of whom are in the military, and all of them sitting near the military’s logistical base and families.

That must keep the tyrants awake at night.

Trannies and Florida

The left is pissed off because they can no longer change the gender on their Florida driver’s license. They are claiming that it’s being done to suppress trannies from voting, because they would have to “out” themselves at the polls.

“Permitting an individual to alter his or her license to reflect an internal sense of gender role or identity, which is neither immutable nor objectively verifiable, undermines the purpose of an identification record,” Robert Kynoch, deputy executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, wrote in the memo, reciting rhetoric now often used to justify anti-trans laws. 

No slant there in that article, nope, not one bit. It’s pure news. (/sarc) It isn’t rhetoric, you dumbass. You are born as male or female, and that is an objective and verifiable characteristic. You don’t and can’t change it just because of your feelings.

The left claims that sex and gender are two different things, but that idea wasn’t even proposed until the 1950’s, and didn’t really begin to gain traction until 1979. It’s an invention of the left that upends millennia of objective, verifiable fact. But the major change came in the 1960’s when feminists first adopted it to distinguish social and cultural differences (gender) from biological differences (sex). That’s why I find it to be deliciously ironic that the trannies are now destroying women’s sports.

In the new left’s interpretation, all differences in outcomes between men and women are the result of bigotry, and all we need to do to eliminate them is change children’s beliefs by encouraging gender neutral play. For that reason, I propose that we take the next step- let’s eliminate all women’s sports. Let it just be- sports. Let women compete on the same court, field, and pitch as the men. I look forward to seeing a female running back getting tackled by a 280 pound defensive lineman. I want to see women’s basketball played with the same size ball and hoop as the men play with. Then we will see how equal men and women are.
