Free Stuff for Everyone

The morons in charge either don’t know how to run a business, or they are deliberately lying to you. Data point:

As I have said before, price controls never work. Have you seen the price of groceries lately? Even feeding those kids will cost a huge chunk of that $10 per day. Unless you are planning on feeding these kids crackers and water all day.

Capping child care at $10 a day is only about $1.13 an hour. Since the administration also supports a minimum wage of $15 per hour, as well as free healthcare, paid family leave, paid sick leave, and other benefits, then add in the taxes, overhead, and lunch that they want included, each daycare worker would need to watch 40 to 50 children. My math below the fold.

No, the reason why they want to do this is so that all private daycare goes out of business, leaving the government to raise and look after our children, so they can expose them to more porn and propaganda. They can’t be this stupid, so it must be an attempt to lie to you in order to gain more power.

Here is the math at costs for each day, and I am lowballing this:

  • Worker’s pay for a 9 hour day, minimum: $135
  • Social Security, liability insurance, etc. $50
  • Paid Time Off (1 day per month) $25
  • Health Insurance $45
  • Other HR overhead $50

Total cost for labor: $275 per day, so labor alone requires 28 children per daycare worker.

Now you have the cost of a facility and its utilities, which comes to another $130 per day:

  • Rent of space for watching those 40 kids: $2000 per month
  • Utilities (water, power, Internet, phone, CATV, etc.) $600 per month

There are other costs, including furnishings, toys for the kids to play with (unless you plan on having them just sit there), on top of the fact that you will have to feed them. Just to break even, your fictional daycare center will need to pull in $450 a day or so.

If you are doing the math, you are now at 45 children or more for each daycare worker.

Typical Politician

A settlement in Florida proves to me that Ron DeSantis has been doing what politicians always do– grandstand for the voters in order to get elected. The lawsuit in question was over a law that prohibited teachers from discussing sexuality or faggotry to children, and prohibited schools from exposing children to pornography.

The settlement again allows teachers to talk about their sexual deviancy with their students, as long as it isn’t part of the curriculum. It also allows schools to expose children to porn, as long as the book isn’t used as a part of classroom instruction.

This is pure bullshit. Now that DeSantis isn’t in the running for President, he all of a sudden isn’t interested in the things that he claimed to hold dear. It’s almost like he was telling people what they wanted to hear in order to get elected.

This is the biggest problem that I have had with the Republican party for years- they are only interested in power and money for themselves. They are not any better than the Democrats. Remember- just because the Democrats are your enemy doesn’t make the Republicans your friends.

The Republicans will work with the Democrats to destroy Trump, so they can try to return to the grift that they had going before the MAGA movement came along. Of course, they are too stupid to realize that they are being used by the Communists in the Democrat party and will be done away with as soon as it is convenient to do so.

Children

When I was a kid, I had a scoutmaster that had escaped from the Soviet Union when his parents hid him in the trunk of a car that was driving from East to West Berlin. I grew up hearing stories of what life under communism was like.

My parents were good friends with Greg and his wife. Their sons, Mark and Andy, were friends of mine. Mark became a UPS driver. Andy, a homicide detective. I learned to hate communism and its adherents. The kids today haven’t grown up with those stories. That’s why they don’t understand that it isn’t a flex when the leader of the country jails his political opponents.

She doesn’t have the life experience or knowledge to even comprehend why Trump being prosecuted is a bad thing.

  • When the Afghanistan war began, her birth was 5 years in the future.
  • She has never lived in a world where the WTC existed.
  • When Trump was elected in 2016, she was 10.
  • She was 14 when the 2020 election happened.
  • She can’t wrap her brain around it because she is clueless about life. The adults in her life didn’t teach her, didn’t warn her about evil governments.

and that is our fault. We let the communists take over education, and those commies spent decades telling her how communism is good, and Republicans are bad.

That’s how we got here. Now it’s going to be extremely hard to fix.

Another Win

Yesterday, a Federal judge in the district court for the Southern District of California struck down the state law that limited people to purchasing one gun in any 30 day period, stating that such a law is unconstitutional. The lawsuit was brought buy the Forearms policy coalition.

The FPC is doing a great job as a no nonsense gun rights organization. They and the Second Amendment Foundation are kicking ass and taking names.

The FPC is truly doing the heavy lifting that the NRA should have been doing for decades, but were busy paying for Wayne LaPierre’s wardrobe and NetJet account. Just last week, I got another email asking me to join the NRA, even though I have been a life member for more than 20 years.

Right now, they are arguing in a Delaware case, with the state trying to set the stage for a complete semi-auto ban.

I have set up a recurring monthly donation. I would like to point out that it is cheaper to fight now in the courts than it is to fight later in the streets. I get nothing for this post, and am not in any way associated with them, other than being a member and a donor. I am just a gun owner who wants to be left alone. If you are too, maybe you can toss them a few bucks.

Not Rape

The next time some idiot tells you that Trump has been found guilty of a rape, you can counter with these facts:

  • It was a civil trial. Civil trials determine liability, not guilt.
  • The standard for a civil trial is preponderance of evidence
  • the standard for a criminal trial is beyond a reasonable doubt, a much higher standard
  • Even under the looser standard of preponderance of evidence, as well as a left leaning NY jury, the prosecution still couldn’t meet that standard:

Safe Review

If you will remember, I modified my gun safe last summer from a digital combination to a mechanical one. I also moved and was contemplating a dual safe system. So here is what I wound up doing:

My main safe is on the other side of the house and has a mechanical combination. The upside here is that this safe is resistant to someone having a backdoor, and it is also resistant to EMP events. Still, the mechanical lock is slower to operate, meaning in an emergency, it will take more time to access firearms. The lock is also less convenient, and for access to EDC, it isn’t ideal.

Still, I may need to access guns frequently or in a hurry, so I wanted a safe that had stuff in it that I may need. So I settled on a Vaultek RS 800i as my “hot safe.” This safe has a fingerprint lock for rapid access, with a PIN keypad as backup. There is also a key override if the electronics are somehow not working. It also alerts my phone of its status, entries, and any attempts at messing with or breaking into the safe. The safe is large enough for an AR, a shotgun, some ammo, a couple of handguns, and some miscellaneous stuff like my car keys, some cash, etc.

The safe works well. It allows me to keep my EDC locked up. It gives me secure, rapid, ready access to firearms right there in my bedroom. I like the safe, and it works well.
