The NYPD thinks citizens with cameras are a concern, as they worry citizens with smart glasses could film their operations. One thing police need is the ability to perform their duties in secret. (/sarc)

This from the organization that maintains over 25,000 surveillance cameras with automated facial and license plate readding capabilities.

The one thing the watchers hate is being watched. Aside from the 2 FLOCK cameras nearby, there are now 2 of these pole mounted devices in town and probably installed at night.

“Cameras for us, not for you!”
“Guns for us, not for you!”

I feel for every camera they own or any they subcontract to use there should be a reduction of one police officer.

I am not surprised…
I have heard that there is, at least theoretically, a way to broadcast a signal that freezes line scanning of cameras so that they don’t refresh and load new frames.
I have not been able to confirm that; if that, or a similar method of affecting video without affecting visual (eyes) were possible, it would be a huge help to privacy.
i also assume that if it became widespread, the government would ban it like they have Rf jamming.

A dilemma as old as time. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes. What a great target for some determined hackers, or even a company, let alone someone looking to see where our fearless leaders might have been. Bet some clever soul could sort out armored car paths pretty easily too.
