The next time someone tells you how another country’s health care is better because it’s free, show them this.

He called EMS at 1755, again at 1805, complaing of shortness of breath. He was told no ambulance would be coming, but that a doctor would call him back.

Someone finally called at 1907, but no one answered that call or tow others. An ambulance was finally sent at 2112,arriving at 2119.

The man was dead on the floor. Hey, at least it was free.

Betcha if he’d said something Verboten about Certain People in that first call some coppers would have been there within ten minutes to cuff him and stand over him tut-tutting while he croaked.

I have lots of Canadian friends; they tell me that when they visit elderly friends in the hospital, the patients are always getting pushed to get MAID (assisted dying) even if they are not in for something life threatening. Both the doctors and the nurses try to make them feel guilty for putting a burden on the system by living. Free healthcare is more like free death care!

Whenever I run into those “healthcare is free in Europe” idiots I quickly explain how it really works. In Europe. Like the cost of the NHS in the UK is equal to almost 70% of total income tax revenue. It aint “free”. You pay 40%+ of an average salary in tax to pay for your “free healthcare”. Including 20% sales tax and 65% tax on gas. And it still has some of the worst medical system outcomes in the Western world.

In the rest of Europe you will have to pay the equivalent of a few $100’s a month for mandatory insurance, But if you want US style treatment it will really cost you in most countries. The rest have to deal with the equivalent of really bad HMO’s in many countries. Some countries are better than others but the Italian system killed my Down Syndrome nephew. Would still be alive today if treated in a non-socialized system

If you got the Feds out of heath insurance (and almost all parts of health-care) and shut down almost all malpractice liability lawsuits then the US could easily have a system as inexpensive as the best health insurance supported systems in Europe. Like Switzerland and the Netherlands. But Big Labor and the Democratic Party will never let that happen. For different reasons.

But that’s another story.

It’s because like in this country 3rd Worlders have flooded the country and LOVE to liberally use the “free” medical care that they haven’t paid for.
In addition, the deadbeats use ambulances for their taxis to health care.

At my hospital I can’t count how many times every day that the squad brings in people that are NOT in an emergency situation ie “I cut my hand and need stitches”. You DON’T need an ambulance for that but they get pissed if you even mention that.
Almost always too these are losers on the Dole… Section 8 housing, food stamps Medicaid and they don’t pay shit for anything but to them it’s “FREE:.

Meanwhile you get in a bad car wreck where seconds count and the ambulance is delayed taking a welfare rat to the hospital for BS.

I’m betting the calls to 999 are answered in Hyderabad to save money.
