It’s because Lefties ALWAYS assume that they will have the police/SWAT team doing their dirty work.
It never occurs to them that the VAST majority of military/ex military have guns and know how to use them.
People always say what is the final straw where you realize the government is 110% putting the boot on your neck and it’s time to actively resist (with all of the consequences that entails) ?
For many people gun confiscation is that final straw.

While I do agree this is a lot of keyboard warrior shit talking, don’t overlook the fact that leftist twats (irrespective of what label gets hung on them) were enormously successful through the 20th century at committing large scale democides. Now, it is true that in those cases, the people being massacred were generally unarmed. But, the neo-bolsheviks will pull in enough of the existing pig power structure as willing enforcers of their authoritarian wet dreams, that at least at the outset they will enjoy some measure of success. The tables will have to be turned by the resistance through slaughtering the enforcers (and those directing their actions) wholesale, any place they show up.

Remind him how well disarmament of the populace worked in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, and consider also that Belfast is about the same in size and population as the L.A. basin, and that there are an estimated 100,000 armed street gang members there, not counting the ordinary citizens.
One source I read estimated only about 3,000 active Provos at any one time during the Troubles.

The TOTAL number of active terrorists at any one time, both Nationalist and Loyalist, was actually placed at around 300, not 3,000. Unless you include their active supports, people who would leave door unlocked for a quick get-away or hold on to a ‘package’ for a day or too. But those who would do the dirty deeds, 300.

Nothing but internet tough talk from someone whose mouth exceeds their brain capacity.
This has been discussed thoroughly here and elsewhere. Confiscation can happen, on a small scale in isolated situations where those in power outnumber and can surprise their target. Once word gets out, folks become aware, and those doing the confiscation receive threats to themselves or their families, it will slow. If enough incidents occur with people getting hurt executing these unlawful orders, it will eventually stop.

Bend is Central Oregon, not Portland so the disarmament industrial complex may get almost as frosty a reception as they did in Roseburg after the Umpqua Community College incident a few years ago. Admittedly all the Californians and Portlanders on the West side are hand wringing but the East siders are applauding the guy who went in and shot the bad guy.

I say we encourage Dr Eddie and his crew to execute a pilot program in LA, Chicago, East St. Louis, Memphis, and NYC. After he successfully confiscates all of the guns from the various gangs, any survivors can write up an after action report (AAR) for the rest of us to evaluate the cost/benefit of his proposal.

I think that he has been paying attention to internet commentary for a while, and has seen the internet bluster we firearm enthusiasts like to throw at such people, and, with some justification, he things we won’t do it.
We haven’t yet, despite serious provocations on the part of government.
The Biden DoJ spent years throwing people into pre-trial solitary confinement for trespassing on Jan 6, and not one gun owner so much as said boo. We watched the BATF straight up railroad a sailor for nothing, and no one did a damned thing.
As for our military and police, and whether they would obey orders to confiscate guns, you just had an object lesson on how that will really work with the COVID “vaccine.” Almost all of them will obey those orders, and the few that don’t will be isolated, and dismissed.
I debated gun control for more than 20 years on a large tech forum (arstechnica) and I learned a long time ago to never try and engage in debate with hoplophobes like this, they cannot be convinced, no matter how hard you try. They have their sense of moral righteousness tied up into their position, and no facts or logic can make them give that up. What I do with such people is tell them that no, they can’t have them. If they ban them, I will not comply. They will have to take them away, with force, and if they do, I will resist. When I do, I won’t be engaging with the police, because I am not dumb; I know they outnumber me. I will be out, and about, looking for people just like him. People who support confiscation, but who have no security details, and no firearms of their own to resist me.
In short, I make it very personal, very quick, by reminding them that they very much have skin in this game, and if they get what they want, it will come back on them in a very up close and personal way.

From the avatar, that looks more like some muslim living in Canada, it doesn’t look like a Canadian. Hijab-wearling? Not all Canadians are left-wing (anti-gun? I first learned to shoot in Canada) … but old Canada died when they changed their flag and anthem back when, then opened their borders (draft dodgers in the 60s may have started that trend).
