Looting. Stealing. Blocking roads. Gluing themselves to commuter trains. Vandalizing works of art. Damaging 300 year old fountains in Rome. Why does society continue to put up with this? Criminals do it because there are no consequences for their actions. Why? Because we as a society have become too tolerant and have declared that force and violence are not to be used in defense of property.

Maybe it’s time for that to change.

It’s absolutely time for that to change. If only we wouldn’t be prosecuted for doing it.

Looting, destruction of property, and theft should prescribe an armed response. These other issues like blocking roads and such….if you get hurt trying to stop vehicles, that’s on you, and if one of your friends gets cute and decides to point a gun at me for intimidation, well he and maybe you deserve to get shot or run over outright.

You have a right to protest, but you don’t have a right to fuck with other people while doing it.

I have been saying for some time that the single best law to reduce the current mayhem in the street would be to allow the use of deadly force in defense of property wherever you are located. So it would not be limited to one’s premises. Shoplifters, vandals, muggers would quickly get the message that being killed for stealing a pair of sneakers us not worth it. I would have a further caveat that no arrest of the person employing the lethal force may be made until an investigation is completed that proves that said person was not actually protecting property. The feral chimps and their ilk will be hardest hit by this and that is exactly the desired result.

Joe B, that only really works if there are no witnesses. DM seems, to me, to be talking about vandalism, destruction and the like, in very public spaces.

Even if the police could use force … What would be needed, at this point, is it being legal for private citizens to use force to protect public infrastructure and access.

Maybe?

It costs you a not inconsiderable part of your life to buy insurance to reduce loss from thieves and vandals because you aren’t allowed to use violence to inexpensively protect your investment in property. And don’t forget that animals are considered property, so if your pets or livestock are threatened, you have to stand by and watch while goblins kill your dog or steal your horse or burn your barn or shoot your cattle.

“Why does society continue to put up with this?”

What are you going to do? Punch the losers? Shoot them? Beat them down?

“Why does society continue to put up with this?”

Because if you don’t put up with it, you’ll be arrested, charged, and caged like a dog because government thinks it’s their exclusive job to enforce laws and permit or deny your rights.

Not individuals- society. Stop allowing this.
Punching would be a good start. All it takes is 1 person to deadlock a jury. Society.

Good luck finding one person on a jury who doesn’t blindly trust the propaganda fed to them via MSNBCNNBCBS and/or Fox. You willing to bet being caged like a dog for years on end against your fellow indoctrinated Americans?

I’m sure it’s a million times better in Florida than Washington, but still…

Punching someone isn’t going to get you years in prison. If you have a clean record, you are likely to get probation and a fine.
