This is the truth. The government ruins everything it touches.

Regarding the tariffs, I don’t want to compete against desperate people who will undercut me and will be happy to make less that half if what I make. Or even worse, compete against government subsidized foreign businesses, or even against slave labor.

It is to the point now where I am copy/pasting entire blocks of building code rules from the code books onto my AutoCAD plans, and what is the point?

Last year I had to finally add one whole sheet (24″x36″) to a basic set of plans just to show the most standard of rules.

The Lee County FL building and zoning dept’s are inundated with young, female plans examiners that have never seen a concrete block nor know how long a 2×4 stud is, but there they are every day lengthening the amount of time it takes to get a building permit approval.

Meanwhile the clock is ticking on that construction loan.

And everybody wonders why construction is so expensive.

This stuff has been my life blood since 1972 and I could write volumes on it.

Like those people are any smarter or better.

Very true, though it misses the government-favored crony capitalist companies selected to “win” over other companies.

Yeah, which is why you can’t elect a county board who will cut taxes. The elected county boards are filled with people who are owned by large companies like land developers.

Yes, the truth.

And chain migration is making it all worse as the green carders bring all of their aged relatives here to the USA to overwhelm our medical and welfare systems. It used to be that if you brought your aged relatives here, you have to sign a pledge to take care of them. That does not appear to be the case anymore.

IIRC, tariffs provided the money needed to run a US government for over 100 years….. The 16th Amendment changed that.

The Powers That Be never liked tariffs as they could not reward their friends and punish their enemies.
