Many on the left (and even some on the right) have been complaining about the cost of housing.

Six years ago, I began warning people when our supposed small government oriented Republican governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order prohibiting evictions, and continued that order several times through October of that year, effectively depriving property owners of their property without compensation. It wasn’t just Florida, many states did the same, some of them for up to two years. This resulted in huge losses to many landlords.

On top of that, landlords were told they couldn’t perform credit checks because racism. This also put upward pressure on rent prices.

Landlords have to be compensated for the increased risk of their investments. That’s how investing works- the higher the risk, the more the investment must yield or else no one will want to make the investment.

Then the Biden administration imported millions of illegal immigrants that increased housing demand. Even more pressure on housing prices.

Inflation isn’t the only thing that affects prices. Stop voting for retarded socialist policies.

See, you’re doing math, that’s the problem. For communists, math is racist, it doesn’t follow the rules, so they re-invent it. I’m reminded of that Nork w/ the big tits that was making the rounds on talk shows a couple years ago, and Kim’s new-math on drops of water. That’s literally the play-book, just invent shit and make it up. You’re Dear Leader, if anyone objects, just kill them. Dr. Milgram would be so proud.

I see that taxes have gone up nearly 1K this year for some homes, new regulations for demanding AC be provided for rental units, It would cost me about 3K to install AC here. Rental units and building access must be wheelchair accessible. So if you own an older 4 story walk up you would have to install an elevator, by law. Same goes for public buildings, churches. If you are lucky all you need to build is a wheelchair ramp.
So cost go up, risk goes up, taxes go up but some how the owner is supposed to absorb the cost increase voted in (policies) by low income dwellers in the building.
error: in circular logic.

Let’s also not forget, the “inflation” index is an average. (Even if you believe it’s a reasonable and non-manipulated metric.)

Not every price will change by the inflation rate; some will change more, some less. Some, like computers, can even go down.

Now if we could only find politicians that didn’t promote retarded socialist programs. By the way, isn’t “retarded socialist” redundant?

I call them the “Easy Generation”.
They are not willing to entertain the notion of what it takes to attain a goal.
If they can’t have it right now, then some else besides them, are to blame.

Maff is har, and most of them can’t do it.
Poor parenting didn’t help them any nor did the stupid colleges.
But everybody grows up eventually, or they do not. shrug

Wasn’t there a song about this stuff back in the 60’s?
I never promised you a rose garden?

Besides all of the government BS which you rightly pointed out that causes rents and housing prices to ride, there is also the elephant in the room.

The government has allowed 10s of millions of foreigners to move here in the last 30 years.
Did we build 10s of millions of new houses and apartment buildings ?

NO and all of those people have to live somewhere and supply and demand means:
high demand + limited housing supply = housing costs go WAAAY up.
