When I was in the military, I did my six years. I did three deployments, two of them were combat deployments. I made it to the rank of E-5. With that being said, I hated the military and how it does business. Our commanding officers were largely ass kissing opportunists who would willingly kill the men in their commands for no other reason than to get promoted.

I hated the military system. I once had to move an electric motor, and it weighed quite a bit. The padeye on the overhead had a label on it saying that its working limit was 1200 pounds. The motor and its lifting rig weighed 1700 pounds. I pointed out that we would have to get a new padeye installed to do the work. Instead, the officer in charge had the label plate replaced to read 1800 pounds. He ordered me to do the move anyway, and when the rig fell apart one of my guys lost three fingers on his left hand. That’s the kind of shit I saw officers do. They give orders, but enlisted and junior NCOs pay the bill. I can count the number of officers that I actually respected on the fingers of that guy’s hand.

I had a lieutenant once tell me that he could order me to do whatever he wanted, and I would have to obey, because as far as I was concerned, he was god. The guy was a real dick.

I could tell you a hundred stories, but let’s just say that I have no love for officers. They often throw around their authority like only immature idiots can do when given some real power, taking every opportunity to abuse that power because they can. So hearing that a bunch of them are getting fucked over by the military reinterpreting regulations to their own advantage made me laugh.

At one point (many years ago now) hearing stories like the one in which the poor bastards fingers were lost to a completely preventable accident would’ve surprised, and even angered me. Now that I’ve long since accepted the reality and blackpilled on it, I recognize the lack of both competence and simple “giving a shit” that exists nearly everywhere, even in the USMIL. It’s still disgusting, irrespective of my resignation towards getting pissed about it anymore.

We know recruiting is way down for enlisted personnel, and I wonder if the officer ranks will start getting hit by critical shortfalls as well. Authority (even in the form of middling power over relative pissants) is a very alluring thing for people with a certain personality. Add in the pay and bennies, and destroying the notion that being an officer is lucrative (enough) gig will be harder to destroy than it is to turn people off of being a grunt.

All the more so in this era of advancement on the basis of nothing more than color, sex and perversion. It will remain a path for fuckup misfits to get a fancy uniform and a title. For that reason alone, I figure they’ll continue to eat that shit up for some time to come.

Sad to say the Navy has not got any better. I’m glad I retired.

Well that seems like a good plan for retention and recruitment. Also for readiness. And maintenance. Other than filling a box what is the upside for this decision?

Raised in that septic tank was enough for me.
I’d cut off my feet before I joined the fruitloop brigade.

Sadly, my time in the military was what made me the anti-authority malcontent I am today.

Karma, the one thing, decent people can look forward to.

And the (conservative, patriotic, 2a) folks that are the backbone of this country are concerned about a “military” takeover of our country? LMAO ….it’s the invasion before our eyes that we will be confronted with…coming to your neighborhood at some point…abetted by transgeneric degenerates that can and will pull the trigger on you. Be prepared, no mercy given, none asked for…harden….yourselves….it’s going to be bad…

My father served in Vietnam and once looked me straight into my eyes and told me that they would shoot lieutenants in the field like that.

Sounds like Catch 22 in real life.

Of course, this sudden realisation that they need to extend the contract has nothing whatsoever to do with the military forcing the Covid vaccine onto the pilots and the resultant side effects rendering the pilots medically unfit to fly … No way THAT could be the reason, eh?

I was ambivalent on Navy officers, until I got to an EA-6B squadron. 4 seat electronic warfare plane that had a crew of 4, 1 pilot and 3 Naval Flight Officers.

Yea, watching the things those overpaid college frat boys did, and got away with, during my 4 year tour there soured me on officers for the rest of my career. Like, say, launching on a cross country flight on a Saturday, just so one of the aircrew could fly to Missouri to get married.
