A person who gets elected to the House of Representatives receives a salary of $155,000 per year. Prior to being elected, they lived with their mother while working as a bartender and were fighting the foreclosure of their home. 29 months after assuming office, they have a net worth of $29 million. This person now owns 6 homes, 5 Cars, 2 Luxury Yachts, has cash reserves of over $3 Million and a stock portfolio that is valued at $15 million.

I am of course talking about AOC. The question I think we should all be asking is- how do you increase your net worth by over $1 million a month when your salary is only $13,000 a month?

She is a self described socialist, yet drives 5 cars with a combined value of half a million dollars: a Mercedes-Benz GLA, an Audi Q2, a BMW X7 ($100,000), a Mercedes-Benz EqC (valued at $140,000), and a BMW X8 ($200,000).

That’s REAL socialism.

I am convinced that in any future society we build, if there is any elected form of government at all, it should consist of unpaid, part -time reps. Politics must never be allowed to become a profession, whether it be a town manager, senator, or head of state. about the only thing in the world worse then a standing army is a standing government. If there are any future men worthy of the traditions of Washington himself, then they will not mind serving out of patriotism and not expect anything above travel compensation directly from the people of their own district. Of course, a standing government is only one of many things we must rid ourselves of after we secure the future. The public education system is begging to be next.

It isn’t her government pay that is the problem. Her government pay is only $13,000 a month. The other million a month she is making is from what they refer to as “donations.” I read that as “bribes,” or perhaps “graft.”
Declaring that government officials are unpaid does nothing to prevent this.

I look at it this way, part time legislatures have less time for mischief. Less opportunity for being bribed.

I’ve read that Maine’s part time legislature works well – pay is so low they have other jobs, so they meet, do work, and leave.
I suspect state rules on lobbying also help.

Texas works, meets every other year and not long then.

The, as in THE ONLY, solution to fix our representative republic is to put in a term-limit for the House. My idea, only one, ever, 2 year term and then you are no longer eligible to hold ANY public office, ever again… as in, you are done! Return the Senate to the control of the States’ legislature and specifically prohibit a popular vote for Senators. Then, while we’re at it, return the Electoral College to the State Legislature as well and prohibit a popular vote for that as well. And oh yeah… .we don’t live in a DEMONOCRACY!

This seems really really unlikely. I can only find one source that has the same stats you do, I can’t find any others that corroborate it. I have no doubt she will end her congressional career far far richer than she went in, but I think this pace is a little faster than could be imagined.

Maybe there’s a possibility, however remote, that she will sip a bit too much wine one evening, hop behind the wheel of one of those high-powered luxury vehicles and lose control somewhere on a dark stretch of highway.

Yup, but they only want to examine Trump’s tax returns. I’d like to see all their tax returns. All of them. Start with Pelosi and work your way down. Apparently that bint’s husband bought a bunch of stock right before a vote, hmmm. Martha Steward went to jail for less.

Wasn’t that house arrest in her cozy mansion?

      Will · July 21, 2022 at 5:45 pm

I believe she actually did a little bit of hard time but it was probably at a Club Fed.

When I read the information linked to explain her wealth, it talks of the large donations. Does this number include her political donations or is this just her personal wealth?

tfourier · July 21, 2022 at 7:56 am

@John F

Based on other political grifters like AOC those high numbers seem about right. She raises huge amounts of money yet her district is a Dem lock. (75%+) for decades. So district election expenditure needs is low to nil.

Yet that $20M plus mostly got “spent”. Looking at the expenditure pattern see lots of opportunity for the traditional party machine kickbacks. This is after all the city of Tammany Hall. And I am 110% certain she is keeping up the old tradition of political corruption.

Remember, this is a non compete district were the only election costs are buying support in the primary. And that is usually done at the tax payers expense after election. With promises made.

As much as I hate Toothy McBigtits, I doubt this article and the source.

    EN2 SS · July 21, 2022 at 4:57 pm

    You don’t pay much attention.

    Divemedic · July 21, 2022 at 7:54 pm

I will grant you that it is possibly fake news. I can’t find a second source. Since the MSM is not going to report this anymore than they do Bernie Sanders’ excesses, we aren’t going to be able to confirm it.

      Skeptic · July 21, 2022 at 10:43 pm

Don’t get me wrong. The #1 question I’d like to ask pretty much any congresscritter is, “How did you get so rich?” I just doubt that she has been able to amass that kind of personal wealth in her short tenure when others take 30 years in Congress to get there.

WDS · July 21, 2022 at 9:08 am

Despite Sandy’s vast resources and wealth she never bothered to visit Puerto Rico and fix her Abuela’s leaky roof. She only bitched about it online for the attention. Pathetic.

Everybody Do the Yuri · July 21, 2022 at 1:38 pm

Look up the Mr. Reagan video about the actress AOC.
Only a dumbed down drooling dupe society would fall for any of this gaslit kayfabe psyop Hollywood smoking mirrors hologram 24-7.
She isn’t hot and boobs are just lumps of flesh, I’ll have a martini, shaken and not stirred.
