I have posted about stupid pranks that the current generation is playing, thinking that placing people in fear for their lives to get views of their social media is funny. Two years ago, it was staging a scene where unsuspecting people came upon what looked like a person dressed as a clown that had just murdered someone then began chasing the prank victim.
Let me show you an example of the current trend in these so-called prank videos:
This idiot approaches people saying, “I am gonna burn your car up, bro” before pouring a liquid from a gas can onto the hood while holding a lighter, then compounding it by chasing the victim with the gas can and lighter.
I am going to shoot your ass just as quickly as I can clear leather. Then I am going to keep shooting you until you fall to the ground, and I am going to walk away without being convicted of a crime, AND I am going to be paid for my troubles. Let me explain:
It doesn’t matter that the liquid is not a flammable one, just like it doesn’t matter if a person robs you with a toy gun. What matters is the person defending themselves reasonably believes that the threat is a real one. The moron clearly indicated that it was his intent to set my car, and possibly me, on fire before pouring what appears to be a flammable liquid on my car. It’s clearly his intent to make the person being “pranked” to believe they are imminently going to be the victim of arson. After all, if that belief didn’t exist, the prank wouldn’t work as a prank. Therefore, it is reasonable for a person to believe that an arson is imminent.
In Florida, arson is a felony.
(1) Any person who willfully and unlawfully, or while in the commission of any felony, by fire or explosion, damages or causes to be damaged:
(a) Any dwelling, whether occupied or not, or its contents;
<snip irrelevant legalese>
(3) As used in this chapter, “structure” means any building of any kind, any enclosed area with a roof over it, any real property and appurtenances thereto, any tent or other portable building, and any vehicle, vessel, watercraft, or aircraft.
Not only that, but arson is also a forcible felony. In Florida, I can use deadly force to stop the imminent commission of a forcible felony. I could even argue that pouring a flammable liquid on a vehicle where I am in close proximity is a deadly threat upon my person. It doesn’t even have to be my car. It can be a car that I am standing close to. That isn’t even considering that this rocket scientist was chasing people with the gas can and lighter in his hand.
(2) A person is justified in using or threatening to use deadly force if he or she reasonably believes that using or threatening to use such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. A person who uses or threatens to use deadly force in accordance with this subsection does not have a duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground if the person using or threatening to use the deadly force is not engaged in a criminal activity and is in a place where he or she has a right to be.
It isn’t just vehicles. Now they have progressed to pouring a liquid from a gas can onto people.
The morons even brag about how “epic” it is that so many people were fooled.
After I shoot and kill you in self defense, every person involved in this production is now guilty of felony murder. They are also liable to me when I sue everyone involved in this so-called prank for the “emotional trauma” and PTSD I now have experienced because I had to shoot someone.
and yeah, I am going to include Youtube in the lawsuit because they allow these videos to be monetized.

There’s a reason a large number of gag videos are shot in Canada, and cities with harsh gun control, because if they were shot in, say, Texas, the prankster would be shot there too.
Capping a few @$$holes, and posting the videos, would have a salutary effect on people who don’t get the inherent limits in “prank” videos starts and ends at “anything so stupid and jackassical that it stands a good chance of you getting justifiably shot to death”.
If Darwinian Selection claims the low-IQ content creators who haven’t learned this by age 16 or so, it’s a net win for the species, i’n’it?

Doesn’t seem to have so far. Recall that big dumb ass that got gut shot harassing the food delivery guy. From what I understand he intended to continue making and posting the same type videos. Why? 2 reasons as best I can figure. He gets all kind of numbers of views which translates to a bunch of money from the host sites.Second is fame. For a while EVERYONE knew who he was.
Like DM, you pour something on my vehicle, casually stroll into my house, approach me in a threatening manner, you WILL get an education at minimum, quite possibly ending with you taking the eternal dirt nap.

Foolish, foolish “people”. The plummeting lack of decorum, manners, and respect towards strangers in this world is appalling.
Someday they will find out that the phrases
“It’s a prank”
“I was just fooling around”
etc…are not the words of power nor a talisman for absolution that they believe them to be.

The more important question- If you tell me you are going to burn me up while holding a gas can and a lighter, then when I pull a gun, you scream “It’s a prank, it’s only water” while still holding the gas can and/or lighter, should I believe you?
Noway2 · May 5, 2025 at 3:00 pm
Sometimes I wish this site had a like button, but it would be abused 🙁
“should I believe you?” A lawyer I worked with used to like to ask, “Were you lying then or are you lying now?” No, I wouldn’t believe them.
As Massad Ayoob put it in his books, “it doesn’t matter if the gun is real or fake, working or inoperable. What matters is the threat”. Pouring a liquid on someone from a gas can, or even attempting to pour liquid on them while holding a lighter is making a threat of grave bodily harm or death, which I expect meets the standard for a lethal force response in every state. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

“Relax, it’s a prop gun!”, he growled as he scooped out an eyeball with the barrel.
Sometimes people get exactly what they got coming to them. And yes I actually do think maiming someone for life is an appropriate response for attempted murder.

I would have no sympathy at all if the prankster pouring fake gasoline or waving a fake weapon got his ass shot off.

IIRC, in Chapter 706 of Florida Statutes there’s a phrase “or other device intended to resemble a firearm….” (don’t remember exactly where, or the exact wording, too many years have gone past). I suspect that, even if the applicable arson statute doesn’t use similar language, the intent would be recognized.
Andrew · May 6, 2025 at 10:07 am
That’s meant to snare folk who attempt to claim “the gun was a toy/fake” or “I just pointed my finger in my pocket at them” trying to evade “armed robbery/etc charges”.

I think you’re too optimistic…at least in some jurisdictions (probably anything Zone 1 or higher). Someone who shot a 16-year-old with water in a gas can would be in for a very bumpy and costly ride, even if he was exonerated in the end.
Note that in the second video, when the guy told the police officer it was water, the officer said, “Oh, cool,” rather than arrest him for what in Georgia would be a terroristic threat (at a minimum).

Thats why I avoid the crazy states.

I blame some of this on Ashton Kutcher. Some of the ‘Punk’d’ pranks were downright brutal, even if they were targeting celebrities.
Can we go back to TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes? Heck, I’d settle for some of Magic of Rahat’s gags.

It’s a “good” thing the so-called right is far more mellow than the so-called left or there wouldn’t be many so-called left left.
Maybe (not really) we need a good war to suck up these now military age beings to either get their act together or remove them from the gene pool. I say this in jest – the coming war is not a desirable thing.

Those UK asshats are pretty brave in a country where people are forbidden from owning firearms or protecting themselves and their property from criminals.
They should come to Texas to video themselves randomly illegally entering people’s homes and see how many times they can do it before getting shot.

Even in areas where I don’t carry concealed,; if I am wearing pants I got a knife and a stainless steel water bottle. You threaten me or mine, I am taking your cheeks as a delightful souvenir.

When 9th grade is your “senior year”, this is about all you’re able to do. I feel bad for the person that caps one of these ferals.

Why work a job when you can be FAMOUS and online and make money? Men do pranks and stupid stunts and women are whores on only fans and their parents are SO proud of their success!! Media Influencer is the #1 desire of high school kids I saw in a recent news story This is the issue and with these morons truly being uneducated morons due to union controlled public education, nothing will change. Once you shoot these fucks then the family comes out with pics of them when 12 and how they were turning their life around along with pro bono lawyers for the law suit against you.
I was always fascinated by the Roman Empire in school and how they let it happen and wondered how/why. Never thought I would be living thru it, but at least we have WIFI……

Saw last night that that moron Johny Somali, the one in S. Korea that got in a bit of trouble and has charges keep getting stacked higher on him. Yeah, well apparently he cheesed off a ROC Special Forces guy who tuned him up a bit. Got charged 7k for the tuning. Donut Operator (youtuber, guntuber, general good dude) paid his fine for him. Relayed by JDDelay on his youtube short.

I worked with the ROK SWC units on multiple Korea short tours. These guys don’t fuck around. Fucking with them, their units honor or their families gets you to a very long hospital stay or dead.Their idea of morning PT extra fun workouts include lining up across from each other and running and doing a flying kick into you then you get up and do it to them. All are Black belts just to apply for selection testing.
Loved their unit names. Spent a lot of time with the Eagle and Ghost units. A Ghost former Brigade commander became ROK president in 87. By far that election night was the biggest total unit drunken debauchery party I ever attended and i have been in a few:) The real dangerous ones are the the Black panthers, they are the head hunter units, the kill team for high value targets like Delta or Seal 6. But still all in all real good people with a level of military honor you wouldn’t believe.
