In a democracy, everyone should be able to vote. It’s a good thing we don’t live in a democracy, nor are we supposed to. It’s a Republic. Personally, I think we should not allow anyone on public assistance to vote. It’s illegal to buy votes, yet that’s what the politicians do with their welfare programs. In Florida, we recently passed a law that felons can vote after serving their time. If you’ve already proven you make bad choices, why should you be able to choose something that can affect me? Many, many years ago we did not have this problem with the felons, either voting or posessing firearms – they were dead. They would hang you for stealing a horse! Now the police won’t even chase after you for stealing anything – some bystander could get hurt.

If a felon can’t be trusted not to violate the rights of others they should at least be in a cage. If they can be trusted to not be in a cage, their rights should be the same as anyone else- guns, voting, or any other thing.

I’m so old, I grew up with the threat of anything bad I’d do would be on my ‘permanent record’ and follow me for the rest of my life. It was quite the deterrent back then, but now things are different. Everything is transactional. If someone sees a way to illegally obtain something, he must weigh the cost of prison in the deal. I think society is worse off with that mindset. The only silver lining I see is I won’t be a part of any society in a few years.

Even after 43 years together I still don’t understand her way of thinking. We get along fine most of the time but now and then she says or does something that just doesn’t make sense to me, and when pressed, she can’t even explain it.
30 years ago her and I were at odds and I went over to my brothers house. He told me, “Remember boy, they don’t think like we do.”
It comes down to balancing emotions with logic. Too much of either can be a problem. And, learning how to control ones emotions is something that should be learned, along with the reasons, early in life.
No one ever died from being too logical but being to emotional can get your ass kicked.
Remember that blue haired blob of shit you posted yesterday, that was emotionally out of control? It needed an ass kicking, bad! lol

And here we are discussing who should and should not be able to vote, when so many foreign nationals get to vote, and besides, election fraud is so rampant as to make voting useless for the most part. I think the blogger mentioned not voting because of the horrendous choices available as well, which I would be in agreement with, sadly.
As for gender, you can always find the nutcase in either sex. I can tell you about a pilot in my squadron who had a panic attack landing at night on a 10,000 ft. runway in good weather, and his female NFO had to talk him down (mind you we were Navy carrier qualified pilots). They let him keep his wings and had other pilots fly with him to baby sit in case he had another attack. Just nuts. Then consider that guy in Maine pretending to be a woman and running for Senate; you would have him vote and not a woman because she is a woman? The human race is full of folks that nuts. Many should not vote, you are right, but it is not the external that is the tell tale, it is the headwork; how they act. I think old vet is right about welfare; you lose your voting rights. I think our society is headed for the cliff no matter who is at the helm at this point, sadly.

More and more I see the founding father’s were correct in everything they did.
Land-owning citizens, were who was allowed to vote.
