The person running the simulator is just running it on every dystopian novel on their shelf. They were doing George Orwell, now they are using Ayn Rand.

LOLOLOL! Commies gonna commie. What do you expect?
Next they will pass some law that FORCES the landlords to accept lower rent.. and/or the city (taxpayer) will cover the difference. Then they get the votes of the property owners, but like all things commie, it will only extend to their bourgeoisie pals of course, just like happens in our capitalist country today, but under a different name! Same as it ever was.
Now as for the simulation theory… brother, I’ve been going down that rabbit hole, and it is FASCINATING! Tom Campbell I think has the correct take, but that’s just me.

Before I learned much about real estate in NYC I was surprised the vacant apartments and such haven’t been “accidentally” damaged beyond repair – windows left open/broken, door locks damaged/destroyed to where everything gets stripped out, etc. – so they can get what little insurance is available and call it good.

Now I know it’s because they’re assets “worth” millions they can borrow against.
