The Broward county sheriff built a $75 million gymnasium for his cops to use. The commissioners of the county want to investigate the expenditures, and voted 7-0 to open the facility up for inspection. The Sheriff is refusing, claiming it could endanger undercover officers who may be working out at the facility.

This is the ridiculous bullshit the cops always pull out-

“Oh, we are undercover, and there are criminals out there who are targeting us. That’s why we need money and nationwide weapons permits. You never know, some meter maid from Oregon might be on vacation at Disney with her family, and some criminal will attack them, which is why we need LEOSA.”

What this really is, is more of the same old, same old: government wasting your tax money to set themselves up as some sort of potentates who are living large on your dime. I don’t care if it’s cops, firemen, or the town clerk. There is no evidence of any criminals hunting down and attacking police officers, other than a few cases of Mafia members targeting FBI agents. Some cop from Bugtussle, Arkansas has no greater risk of being stalked and attacked by criminals than does anyone else in the public.

Still, there is one lever left to the county commission- cut off all or some funding of the Sheriff’s office until he permits the requested investigation.

In the meantime, I will vote to do the same, by voting for Amendment 3.

I can see at least two solutions here,
1. Have the sheriff inform all personnel that use this facility that it will be closed for an inspection by the county on whatever day they can agree on.
2. Tell the sheriff to go pound sand and inspect it anyways as this is county property paid for by the taxpayers not by the sheriff’s own money.

What the fuck do the Broward Cowards need to work out for? To hide more quickly behind cars?

Recall his stupid ass.
That negro is projecting beyond his pay grade.
From the bottom to the top, at all levels, gov’t is staffed by the misfits of society.
I reject ALL of it and recognize it as the criminal enterprise it is.

Uh…..first, does, or does not, money for the operation of the county’s sheriff’s office come from the county’s budgeting process? Did the county have to approve the amount requested by the SO for FY 2026 operations?

Second, does that facility have restricted access underground parking or valet parking? If not, then the Secret Squirrel folks are parking in an outdoor lot that almost certainly can be viewed from some vantage point by someone…..like, maybe, taxpayers? Some of whom may be members of a “criminal enterprise” of some kind. Maybe the UC deputies wear disguises when they leave their cars and go into the building.

Whose fucking money is it? Is it the citizens’ money, extracted forcibly from them by taxation, or is it the proverbial Manna From Heaven, solely for the Sheriff’s Office?

This sounds like one Hell of an opportunity for the 67 counties to enact Zero-Based Budgeting for ALL county agencies. As an elected official, the Sheriff; is protected by the state constitution, but he’s the only one. Every other expense for the SO, zero it out every year and make the SO justify, line item by line item, every dollar requested.

In fact, don’t single out the SO – take every fucking county agency to zero annually on the last day of the fiscal year and make each agency justify dollar-by-dollar what they need and why.

The Houston Texans are working very hard to get a ‘Toro District ” built for their training and corporate headquarters.
County commisioners say it won’t cost taxpayers anything – ecept the cost of drainage, roads, streetlamps, etc..
This comes right after those bastards raised our tax rate !
I can’t possibly hate the Houston Texans more than I do.

I don’t think any of the other county sheriff’s have standing to join in any action which might arise as the controversy only involves actors in one county. It may turn out that the state sheriff’s association will see fit to not become involved.
