Rioters in Oregon are again using fireworks and lasers to attack people. Lasers can cause permanent damage and blindness when aimed at the eyes. Sure, there are glasses for them, but at $325, they are pretty expensive. You know what else stops people from causing others permanent blindness by hitting them in the eye with a laser?

Yep, you guessed it. If you see people in a riot, and those people are tossing explosives and aiming lasers at people’s eyes, shoot them in the face.

They’re still not cheap, but they have a broader selection of styles, e.g. can go over regular glasses, and depending on what you want are less expensive.
There are other places to get them as well.
And while I agree with you that response with deadly force should be considered justified, lasers are inherently longer range than any pistol or rifle, especially with a little bit of collimation. And damage can be effectively instant – your blink reflex is not enough to prevent damage in many scenarios.

Technically it would be legal to shoot rioters tossing things that explode and pointing lasers at people but I guarantee that if you do it will be YOUR ass that is arrested, charged and probably locked away for years. The best choice….be elsewhere. Simply don’t go where loony leftists tend to congregate.

That’s one thing about leftists/democrats I simply can’t wrap my head around. It’s the same logic used for arguing against castle doctrine/stand your ground laws… It was a large part of the reason I decided to move my family out of NY. Sheriff officer told me himself, even if I caught some guy raping my wife/daughter, I could face manslaughter charges if I dispensed lethal force in defense of my wife/child.
The courts literally argue you can get counselling and heal… same as someone stealing your shit – you have insurance, you can just replace it – But dead is dead, you can’t bring them back, and doing so denies THEM their right to a fair trial. Even when being sexually assaulted, they do not want you defending yourself. The monopoly on lethal force will belong to The State and The State alone. That’s why the 2nd Amendment is such a threat. Its writing and purpose is to ensure a level playing field between citizen and state, literally. That’s why they attack from every angle, corner, and aspect. They can’t have a citizenry that can adequately defend itself against what they want to do to you….

A long time ago when I lived in a duty-to-retreat state the LEO instructor in one of my local gun club self defense classes warned all of us that in our state “you WILL be arrested” after responding with deadly force. He urged all of us to have a substantial sum of money ready to pay for a legal defense. The legal system was set to make it very hard to win.

Considering the Supreme Court rulings on 2A issues I would, after being arrested for defending myself or others, bring a federal lawsuit for conspiracy against rights against the police, town, prosecutor, court, and state. The right to be armed implies a right to self defense.

I have been told that also in various places we have lived, I used to live in upstate NY at one time. My answer was always, why report the crime?. If no crime is reported then there was no crime..
Tip of the day:
I don’t believe I have ANY responsibility to report a crime that happened in my house or on my property and was solved by me. I had 5 acres a shovel and a small backhoe so fuck the paperwork. Alway’s keep some fireworks around and if needed set them off soon afterwards. If LEO’s come say sorry about the noise and they will see the firework residue and write the ticket or let you off with a warning so take the minor ticket for fireworks with a smile.

I like the way you think. i always have some fireworks around (for fun) but they could just as easily be deployed as obfuscation, or for more “tactical” uses.
