This is why you don’t talk to cops, and my advice is that you don’t even open the door.

Also, you DO have cameras in your vehicles and on the perimeter of your house, right?

My wife’s new Lexus? Yeah, I just got done putting her dash camera in. It’s worth it. Cops lie, because in many cases, their jobs require them to make arrests. If they aren’t good at their jobs, they become good at faking their jobs.

I am not familiar with Colorado law, but this cop just writes a summons on the spot for her trial. No discovery, no opportunity for a lawyer, no due process? That seems rather sketchy.

What did you decide on for a dash camera? I’ve been looking at options for me and Mrs B and am running straight into analysis paralysis.

For the Lexus, I bought the OEM from Lexus.

I’ve gotten excellent service from https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CD7H5M6J?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_13
for over two years, no problems and great recordings.

I use a Viofo A119 V3 as my dash cam, purchased in 2020. This model has been replaced by the Viofo A119 Mini 2, roughly $129 on Amazon.

    Thanks for the pointers, folks!

Both Mrs B and I have daily drivers (albeit not Lexuses) with front, rear and side cams already. So I find it more than a little annoying to have to add yet another camera, rather than use those already built into the car, for the purpose.

Honestly I’m a little surprised – I would have thought this would be a profit center for carmakers.

This one will give a good overview of the various types and features of the cameras and prepare you to ask relevant questions in the shop etc.

hope flock loses every court case against them…there is an app you can download that shows you where they are in your area…what that cop did is wrong…anyone with half a brain could see they weren’t the same person…i would have told him to go eat a bag of dicks…

I can tell you Colrado has cameras everywhere. Just yesterday got a nice 40 dollar civil fine for my vehicle’s speed. Mind you its not any points or reportable to the DMV. And that’s what they use it for. Flock cameras need to be done away with period. Folks keep getting pulled over because the cameras identify someone with a warrent but the lisence plates dont fully match. I try to stay out of that state as much as possible.

Sign on wall over box next to front door:

NOTICE
You are being recorded
Place all weapons in box
Ring doorbell
Step back 3 paces
Wait

The police are legally allowed to lie to without consequences. This is based, for better or worse, on Frazier v. Cupp (394 U.S. 731 (1969)) where the SCOTUS held:

“ The fact that the police misrepresented the statements that Rawls had made is, while relevant, insufficient, in our view, to make this otherwise voluntary confession inadmissible.”

But you and I are subject to prosecution if we lie to the aremed agents of the state. Somehow, somewhere, someone decided that this is “justice”. More like “Just Us” for the members of George Carlin’s club that you and I are not members of.
