Don’t get treatment is what I take from this, unless you want Hawaii or some other government taking your guns.

Or perhaps just don’t register shit. Registration always results in confiscation.

The state of our military today: naval officer gets counseling for being homesick.

Let me guess. He missed his mommy, right?

    Beans · November 29, 2022 at 2:27 pm

Previously any feelings of separation and homesickness were handled the old fashioned way. By getting drunk and being abusive.

So going for some counseling is a positive step.

Back in the day one could get counseling from one’s priest or pastor. But with the deemphasis of religion in this modern world, secular counselors fill the gap.

At least he sought help rather than becoming a problem and an issue.

Right. Our old sailing Navy would be gone for years at a time. Even in more recent times, Douglas MacArthur was “deployed” overseas from his 1935 arrival in the Philippines until removed from command in Korea in 1951, and did not set foot back in the US in that entire time.

Depressed? Recoil therapy. Solved.

History rhyme:
Registration. Confiscation. Genocide.

And you KNOW the Protect and Serve folks have been treating the hardware as if it were their own, tender loving care and all that. Probably nothing will be worse than New Orleans’ throwing it all into a tractor trailer van to rust, but all things are relative.

This is the way of the world. It’s like red flag laws. Once they’re enacted, never, ever seek treatment for anything that might cause a raid. The officer seeking treatment had to pay out the nose because of the stupid law.

The fact that they even require a permit is ridiculous, but I’ve heard enough bad things about Hawaii that I wouldn’t live there – it reminds me of other Democrat “paradises” with high cost, high crime, intrusive local governments, etc.
I visited there years ago but probably wouldn’t visit there now.

Hawaii is an artificial appendage on this country. It has an existing majority ethnic group that does not identify as American and is sullenly hostile to the rest of the American nation. In the right circumstances, they will assert their independence to Washington and the non Polynesian population there will be in extreme risk.

      Divemedic · November 29, 2022 at 8:54 pm

They are foolish. They were a very violent and warlike people, so it isn’t like they were living in peace when we got there.
They are living on an island in a strategic location. If we hadn’t made them into a state, the Japanese or the Chinese would have.

The Brits had well advanced plans for the place before the American Whaling fleet put the British one out of business in the Pacific. If China goes forward unchecked, they are likely to have some level of control over the place if it is no longer American or protected by our military. China has a lot to do before that is reasonable and we have a long way to fall before it is possible, but that is how it is trending. Most likely would be Hawaiian idependence in a US breakup or collapse with no defense agreement

          Divemedic · November 30, 2022 at 10:06 am

Independence would be short lived. The Hawaiian islands economy is not self contained.
20% of the Hawaiian economy is from the US military, and 25% is from tourism.
The people who live there and think that the islands can survive without a large influx of outside cash are delusional. Everything needs to be imported, unless they are willing to revert to killing each other during intertribal warfare and fishing from outrigger canoes.

            M. Yon lists it as an example of big remote islands that have the highest probability of extreme famine in his 4 horsemen prediction. I see no reason to doubt it.

Can they even do that? I assumed registration was an infringement. Do other states require it? And how would he even get them Hawaii? Not like he can just check them on the plane, can he?
Sorry for stupid questions, not much of a traveller.

A number of states require guns to be registered – California, for instance. You can fly with guns, generally they need to be in checked luggage, in locked secure cases, and declared to the airlines. Procedures differ in detail by airline and, sometimes, airport.
