A couple was arrested for leaving an unsecured bicycle in their yard then using a bat to beat thieves who tried to steal it.
The best part of the story is how wven though they were arrested, no charges were filed. The real purpose of police is to ensure a fair trial for those accused of crimes. Once they stop ensuring that and criminals run wild, their victims take matters into their own hands.

Where does it say someone is not entitled to protect their property anyway? Seems as simple as well don’t fucking steal anything and you don’t get beat with bats. There’s a group of folks on the TockTics that employ similar things. Boobytrapped bikes or scooters. An example is a difficult to detect rope tied around a bike which is placed where someoen can go down hill. Yup you guessed it the rope suddenly becomes taunt, the bike stops but the theif is launched still possessing all that forward (and downward ) momentum. Honestly though what happens in salvage yards when someone breaks in and the guard dogs maul them? I feel 0 empathy to theives. The last bike I had stolen I wish I was there to catch the theif and extract a lot of petty revenge out of them. No one gets their asses kicked that don’t step in the yard with the full intent of taking something they full well know is not theirs. Fuck it, I’d vote the two to be the Sherrif.

Yeppers, ditto the porch-pirates. Trying to sue the homeowner’s for assault. Baffling to me, but then again, I used to live in NY. I’ve seen it all.
