Make an announcement:
Return to your cells immediately. In 5 minutes’ time, any inmate found outside of their cell will be shot for attempting escape.
Then sweep through the jail and shoot every single inmate found out of their cells. You could stream the body cam on pay per view and allow betting on which inmates would be shot. Relieve overcrowding, make money for the jail, end the riot all in one afternoon.

The reaction by the prisoners would be to threaten to kill the guards they hold captive if any shooting occurs . Stalemate, or a massacre of the hostages .

There was a time when that would be acceptable. Now however inmates, even the most violent and vicious, have to be treated with kid gloves as if they are wayward children. This is the end result of treating violent and stupid people as if they have special rights and privileges. Par for the course in North Carolina.

Knock out gas throughout the whole prison. Anyone not in their cells will be hung in their cellblocks as an example. Anyone caught on camera during the riot doing bad things will be hung in the cellblocks as an example.
And, yes, go in armed to shoot to kill and anyone not knocked out, well, shoot their hairy asses. Then hang them.

A local radio personality in Indianapolis Indiana, wants to create a podcast/YouTube (like; as in pay per view) channel that is dedicated to broadcasting death row inmates being legally executed. Is this a lesson to be learned ,or cruelty? Public executions were common before the modern era.
Given the savagery of the last few years, against UNARMED and innocent victims, is this is a reasonable question, to be pondered?

30 odd years ago, the inmates at the Ohio state pen in Dayton rioted and took over a wing of the prison. The held a couple guards captive and made the usual demands. The local National Guard unit (combat engineers) were called in the support the perimeter.
After three days of standoff, the prisoners hanged the bodies of the guards out the third floor windows. A few hours later, the police negotiator got on the bullhorn, and ordered the inmates to go back to their cells and lay down on the floor. They had 15 minutes to comply.
20 minutes later, the Combat Engineers explosively breached the walls, then went in and shot every single person not lying on the floor of a cell. The three survivors later sued. The judge threw out their case with prejudice, essentially claiming that they had FA’ d and then FO’d. The three were later executed for the murder of the guards.
