Since Trump was successfully certified as the winner yesterday, I wanted to post something that I found humorous. The left was making all kinds of noise about an end run around the electoral college by signing on to the interstate compact, which is a deal cut between the leftie states that they will award their electoral votes to the candidate that wins the national popular vote. The compact goes into effect once the states signing on to it are equal to more than 209 electoral votes, so they aren’t quite there yet.
Had that compact been enacted, the electoral vote would have been the largest landslide in American history. The only state that went for Harris and was not a part of the compact was New Hampshire and its 4 electoral votes.
This means that Trump would have won by a margin of 534 to 4, or 99.25% of the total number of electoral votes.

Seems like that would be the antithesis of The United States of America (not that we’re all that united now, that would definitely make it official).

Can’t trust anything to commies… if the leftards want it, it’s bad for us, guaranteed.

They can’t understand the country was designed by geniuses to balance the rights of the few against those of the many. I’ve seen old Senator Backseat Barbara Boxer (I think) saying, “why should Wyoming have the same number of senators as we do in California?” Because that’s why we have the House, you twit. Having the small number of densely populated cities control everything only sounds good to the ones that get to control everything.

I am of the firm belief that we need to start requiring our “elected” leaders to pass a third grade civics course.
In the words of Master Yoda, “Lots of stupid in the galaxy, there is. Add to it, you should not.”

Living here in Wyoming and dealing with hearing the leftists here in UW town advocate to throw away their own voting power and rights to say CA is interesting. When you mention to them that yes, while you think gives Wy a unfair voter representation it’s actually the opposite. You are not having your voting power taken away by states that are much more populated. Its not about population its about equal representation. Some of them think about it a bit when you mention say hey CA could turn Wyoming in to a landfill if they wanted or some other outlandish thing if their votes mattered less. The idea that your vote actually means as much for your representation as any other state however generally is totally lost.

I blame the fact that there aren’t many civics classes in school, and those that ARE there spend their time on the history of who said what and when, rather than the actual theories that our society is based upon.

One of the few good things about Illinois… We are required to pass a exam on the US Constitution, Illinois Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the US flag to graduate Highschool. The test is basic and takes about two hours.
Divemedic · January 8, 2025 at 2:48 pm
So is Florida, but the course you take before the exam centers more on history than it does political philosophy. The test questions are things like:
Which of the following ancient civilizations established a republican form of government?
Which modern democratic concept practiced in the United States is most like the democratic process of ancient Greece?
Which of the following modern processes would be supported by the ancient Greeks?
Why did colonists living under British rule protest British tax policies?
It’s more of a history exam than it is one to ensure the exam taker’s knowledge of the structure and function of the government.

First, the interstate vote compact should be struck down as unconstitutional, since it clearly seeks to do an end run around specific black letter law in the Constitution.
Second, the compact would be fully embraced by the left if it benefitted them (in getting their candidate elected by gaming the system). The moment it backfired and bit them in the ass – as it would have in this last election – they would either seek to invalidate or ignore the rule, or barring that, they’d resort to riots and other forms of violence to get what they wanted.
Rules only exist for the left when said rules work in their favor. Otherwise the rules are whatever the fuck the left claims they are. Or to distill it down to it’s essence, “its different when WE do it!”

The states can try to enter any ‘compact’ they want, but there’s a leetle problem they have to deal with first.
U.S. Constitution Article I, Section 10, Clause 3:
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress,….., enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State,
https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution-conan/article-1/section-10/clause-3/overview-of-the-compact-clause
Of course, these days states that want to do this don’t really GAF about the Constitution past how it may serve their interest.
