Speaking of the Governor, on Friday he named a new Justice to the State Supreme court. She is a member of the Federalist Society. Did I mention that she is a Black Woman from Jamaica? That makes it pretty hard for the left to attack her without losing their “we love minorities” status.

Because of a threat of lawsuits, Orlando has announced that anyone with a concealed weapons permit will be permitted to enter the so-called security zone that the city is establishing on Friday and Saturday nights. I am sure, however, that you will be closely watched to see if you and your armed, permitted ass enter any bars, where you will promptly be arrested for violating the terms of your permit.
You will also note that just in case anyone sues under Florida’s law, which allows a citizen to sue any government official that violates the state’s preemption law, they are using private, armed security guards to enforce the zone.
I do wonder just what the legalities are here. I mean, it is illegal to lie to cops. What authority do security guards have to tell you that you aren’t allowed to walk down a public street? How can the compel you to submit to a search? I wonder what other legal issues there are here. Can they use force to prevent you from walking down the street? Can you sue them for violating your civil rights, or does that only apply to the cops? What legalities are there?
So the press is now surprised that UPS employees are stealing firearms shipments? We in the gun culture have known that for years.
About 15 years ago, I was an IDPA competitor. In those days, I was shooting black stainless Sig 229’s of the 357Sig persuasion in competition. It was pretty common for me to send them to the Sig performance center to get work done. Because of employee theft, UPS had a requirement that all handguns had to be sent overnight and insured. This was way too expensive at more than $200 per handgun.
Now I didn’t think that I should be forced to pay more to UPS because UPS couldn’t keep their employees from stealing. The law said that those who shipped firearms via common carrier had to notify the carrier of the contents of the shipment. So I would always list the contents as “Sig Sauer Model 229” and ship it standard and insured. It cost less than $30 and still complied with the law.
In a move to show how much they care about poor children, Democrats are pulling “free lunch” funding from a school that refuses to follow transgender mandates that require schools to permit transgender students to use male or female bathrooms and play sports with either sex.

Before I get to the point of this post, let me set up a bit of groundwork:
So now that we have the facts out of the way, the point of this post.
We are now less than 3 months away from the midterm elections. The Democrats are on a path to economic and political disaster and it is killing them in the polls. Biden’s approval rating is a dismal -16.3. The number of people who disapprove of him is nearly double the number who approve. Trump’s approval is -15.1.
It isn’t any better for the rest of the field. The Republicans have a 72% chance of winning a majority in the house.
So with all of that going on, why are the Democrats continuing down what is obviously a self destructive path? Why do they continue making decisions that are obviously unpopular with the voters?
I can only come up with one logical answer: The polls don’t matter. Their popularity doesn’t matter.
They know that they can’t lose. The fix is in. There is no other explanation that fits the facts.
California is going full Socialist. The Los Angeles city council is now moving to require that hotels provide free rooms to the homeless. Hotels will be required to report the number of vacant rooms each day at 2 pm, and then make those vacant rooms available to the homeless free of charge.
Note that LA has approximately 100,000 hotel rooms. The interesting thing is that LA had a 78% average occupancy rate pre-COVID, with that rate having fallen to 49% post COVID. So the city is going to fix the homeless problem by confiscating hotel rooms for public use.
Imagine, the next time you stay in a hotel, that some diseased homeless drug addict may have been sleeping in that bed the night before. Know also that if you arrive at a hotel at 3 pm looking for a room, every hotel in LA will be filled at that point. When you DO get a room, look for discarded needles before you stick your hands into any unseen crevice.
My question here is this: How long before the city decides to force homeowners to house and feed the homeless? How long before grocery stores and restaurants are forced to feed them?
California is a lost cause. If you are there, it is time to get out. Do so before it is too late. Fail to heed this advice and you may pay a heavy price.
The AR-15 is the most popular hunting rifle in America. So much for the theory that “assault weapons are only good for killing humans.” Also, since there are approximately 20 million Ar-15s owned in the US, making that rifle the single most popular firearm in America. The AR-15 is in common use, meaning that banning it would be unconstitutional under the Heller decision.
One thing I take from the article:
Of that total, around 741,000 are fully automatic machine guns registered in the US, up from almost 457,000 in 2010, per ATF reports.
Since the registry has been closed to privately held machine guns since 1986, that entire increase has to be dealer samples and police machine guns. I can’t see more than 300,000 dealer samples, so that must mean cops have greatly increased their inventories.
Can’t call it monkeypox. However, now that we know that 98% of those who are getting that particular virus are men who have sex with men, we can call it homopox.
While anyone can get monkeypox, the current outbreak is overwhelmingly affecting sexually active gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men. In fact, our recent study which looked at 528 monkeypox infections since the start of the outbreak found that 98% of these infections had occurred in this group.
So don’t have sex with other dudes. Got it. I guess I’m safe, then.
