Our Child, Not Just Yours

A father was denied access by his wife to the delivery room for the birth of his own child, so instead of sitting around in the waiting room, he went home. The wife is now angry about it and is refusing to even speak to him. I agree. There is a high likelihood that I would instead have gone to a divorce attorney.

There are many women who do this- they act as if the child is theirs and theirs alone, until it comes time to pay the bills, then all of a sudden its OUR child. The whole statement of “it’s the decision she has made and you have to respect that” is bullshit. This is just another example of the war on heterosexual men.

There are hospitals that don’t give anyone a choice– no one is allowed in the delivery room except the mother.

The courts have backed this sort of behavior- on the one hand, the courts have said that mothers can ban fathers from the delivery room, but when it comes time for child support, then it is “pay up, buddy. Didn’t you know that it takes two to have a child?”

Here is my answer- you want the hospital bill paid? The person in the delivery room is the one paying it. That wasn’t me in there, so that isn’t my problem.

Two Justice Systems

I was going to post on this later in the week, but JKB over at Gunfreezone beat me to it, albeit from a different angle. A Dunkin’ employee killed someone because that person called him the so-called “n word.”

In this case, the 77 year old white man received a sentence of death for daring to use that sort of language. The 27 year old black man, so threatened by the use of an unkind word, committed a battery upon the elderly citizen. That’s right, an old man received a death sentence for using mean words. I want to mention that the article also revealed that the 77 year old victim was a convicted sex offender. Since the killer had no way of knowing that, I don’t think it was germane to the story.

For this crime, the black man was permitted to plea to felony battery. OK, I am on board with this, so far. The death was an unintentional side effect of a young, fit man punching an old man. Here is where the justice system fails:

The sentence in the case was for 200 hours of community service and two years of house arrest. He will have to stay at home, unless he is at work or church. The prosecutor had this to say:

“Two of the primary factors were the aggressive approach the victim took toward the defendant and everyone working with the defendant, and that the victim repeatedly used possibly the most aggressive and offensive term in the English language,” Kamm told the newspaper.

We constantly hear about so called “white privilege.” Now name one thing that a black man can say that will allow a white man to kill him. Contrast this with the Kyle Rittenhouse case, or the George Zimmerman case. In both of those cases, the one who did the killing was engaged in self defense from an actual attack instead of meting out punishment for the mere use of a word.

You know, the word that is used every day by rappers and other assorted “people of color.” However, if this “magic word” is uttered a single time by a white person, it can be used as an excuse for anything that a black person does for him, even if the word was uttered decades ago and the black person didn’t even hear the white person say the word.

There are now two justice systems in this country. One for straight, white males, and one for everyone else. Yes, Vonelle Cook was a sex offender with multiple convictions for having sex with 15 and 16 year old children, so I don’t mourn his passing. At the same time, the killer in this case wasn’t aware of that, so I don’t see that it was at all pertinent to what happened here. Nope, Vonelle Cook proved that you can be cancelled for using the wrong word.

Pop Smoke

These are the best smoke grenades that you can buy without a fireworks license. I have a bunch of them. I popped one off in front of the house, and you couldn’t see a thing along the entire street. I couldn’t even see the house across the street. My neighbor down the road was pissed because the thought a house was on fire. Dumbass should have known that bright red smoke wasn’t from a fire.

Anyway, these things are awesome.

As usual, when I recommend a product or vendor, I will remind everyone that I receive no compensation for any of the products mentioned on this page, and that I have no relationship with the vendor other than being a customer. All prices paid are the same available to anyone else in the public.

Brave Cop

If you read here, you know that I levy my share of both criticism and praise at police officers. In this case, I want to share the bravery and sacrifice that this Florida State Trooper made in protecting a group of pedestrians from a drunk driver when she deliberately placed her patrol vehicle between a group of runners and a DUI driver who was refusing to stop:

Man, that had to hurt. If you look at the roofline of her SUV, you can see that the entire vehicle is bent.

That took some real bravery and self sacrifice.

Stupid and Evil Parties Unite

Republicans and Democrats have decided to jointly start WW3. I was watching Hannity on FOX News last night, and he had several Republicans and talk show pundits on there. All of them were pushing for US military involvement.

The biggest idea that I have heard, one that 72% Americans support, is a no fly zone. A no fly zone means that anything flying over Ukraine would have to be shot down. As soon as a NATO aircraft shoots down a Russian aircraft, it’s on. Russia will surely down a few NATO aircraft. On top of it, it’s pretty likely that NATO airfields would receive attention from Russian missiles and aircraft. NATO is now in a full on war. What if the Russians sink a US aircraft carrier? How will US citizens respond to the loss of 6,000 sailors?

If that isn’t enough, Marco Rubio has decided that he wants to simultaneously take on China.

So then what? You think the supply chain issues are bad now, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. As for me, I have been buying stock in oil companies and agriculture companies.

Just Give Them What They Want

A man robbed a Best Western hotel in Orlando. During the robbery, he stabbed the clerk.

Those who oppose gun ownership and self defense frequently say that we don’t need to have guns for self defense, because all we need to do is give them what they want and they won’t hurt us. After all, they are just poor people who need money to feed their families.

But what if they aren’t just someone trying to feed their kids? What if what they want is to kill you? What if they are a violent feral yard ape who enjoys hurting people and the money is just a bonus?

Instead, punch his ticket. Preferably several times. Shoot the asshole until he is no longer a threat. Don’t take chances. I’m sick of reading this shit.

Your Parental Responsibility

I support people who want to homeschool. I don’t agree that parents can’t get others to instruct their children. As parents, we should all want our children to be at least as successful as we were, perhaps even more so. That frequently means letting or hiring others to teach our children things that we cannot.
There are simply some subjects that I don’t feel qualified enough to teach others. So I subcontract it out.
The problem with today’s education is that parents have abdicated much of their parental duties to teachers. School has become more of a babysitting service than it has a place of learning. Parents need to be involved in their children’s education. They aren’t. Even most of the ones who think that they are involved aren’t involved in their education, they only care about their child’s GRADES, and that is not the same thing.

  • What are your kids learning in school this week?
  • Do you know the names of their teachers?
  • Is your child behaving? Who are his friends? Does he hang out with one of “those kids?” Is your child one of “those kids?”
  • Have you seen his text books? If you are in Florida, schools involve parents in the selection of textbooks. Did you know that? If you did, have you participated in that process?
  • Did you know that most teachers maintain a web page that lets you know what your child is studying? Do you check it frequently?
  • Most schools have online gradebooks. What grade did your child receive on his last 5 assignments in each of his classes? If you don’t know, do you at least know where to find out?

Or do you just wait for report cards to come out, and make sure his grades look good?

Look, after the seven years I spent as a teacher, I can tell you that there are many problems with our kids’ education. Yes, there are poor teachers. Yes, there are poor schools, and poor school boards. The way that we got there was through parents not being truly involved in the lives and education of their children. This didn’t happen overnight.

I had parents who were surprised at the end of the year to learn that their child was failing my class. Every week, I would call the parents of students who were failing my class, so we could work together to salvage their grades. I couldn’t get ahold of most of them. Some even deliberately gave the school the incorrect phone number so they wouldn’t be bothered by “all of those phone calls from the school.”

You are the single best advocate for your children. No one cares more for them than you do. So act like it. If your school involves parents in the selection of textbooks, get involved. If your teacher has a website explaining what is going on in the classroom this week, read it. Learn the names of your kids’ teachers. Go to open house. If you can’t be bothered to spend two hours a week being involved with your child’s education while he is in school, you sure aren’t going to be any better at homeschooling.
