What could go wrong?

On Monday, it was 6200 troops. Now here we are, four days later, and there are more than 20,000 troops who are armed with “shoot to kill” orders standing shoulder to shoulder along the edge of a restricted area of some 15 square miles backed up by Stryker armored cars with heavy machine guns, all taking cover behind concrete walls and fences topped with razor wire. All at the orders of the Pentagon, Pelosi, and the Vice President.

Washington DC looks like an armed camp, but Trump is the dictatorial fascist.

Bill of Attainder

Congress is forwarding this impeachment with full knowledge that they cannot remove President Trump from office. That isn’t even their stated reason for doing it. The reason that they want to impeach President Trump is to prevent him from running again in 2024. The only problem here is that, since he will not be President Trump at that point, but simply private citizen Trump, Congress doesn’t have the power of impeachment.

The framers foresaw the legislature abusing their power. They even included a provision in the Constitution to prevent this exact situation. Article I, Section 9, Clause 3 reads “No Bill of Attainder…shall be passed.” What is a bill of attainder?

In British common law, bills of attainder were legislative acts that, without trial, condemned specifically designated persons or groups to death. Bills of attainder also required the “corruption of blood”; that is, they denied to the condemned’s heirs the right to inherit his estate. Bills of pains and penalties, in contrast, singled out designated persons or groups for punishment less than death, such as banishment or disenfranchisement. Many states had enacted both kinds of statutes after the Revolution. The Supreme Court has insisted that “a Bill of Attainder may affect the life of an individual, or may confiscate his property, or may do both,” Fletcher v. Peck (1810).

James Madison said in The Federalist No. 44, “Bills of attainder, ex post facto laws, and laws impairing the obligation of contracts are contrary to the first principles of the social compact and to every principle of sound legislation.”

The Constitution forbade Congress from “exercis[ing] the power and office of judge.” Cummings v. Missouri (1867). In United States v. Brown (1965), the Court specifically rejected a “narrow historical approach” to the clauses and characterized the Framers’ purpose as to prohibit “legislative punishment, of any form or severity, of specifically designated persons or groups.” In Garland (1867), for example, the Supreme Court struck down under the Attainder Clause a congressional statute directed against former Confederates that barred persons from practicing law before United States courts who had, among other things, merely given “encouragement” to rebels.

So if Congress couldn’t prevent former Confederates from becoming practicing attorneys, why does THIS Congress feel that they can prevent private citizen Trump from becoming President Trump in 2024?

EDITED TO ADD:

Congress is now trying to pass another Bill of Attainder that specifically prohibits Private Citizen Trump from entering the Capitol.

Alternate Social Media

Now that I am banned from Facebook, I have been trying to use Gab and MeWe. No one uses them. I am posting in a vacuum on MeWe. No feedback, and no interaction whatsoever.  Gab is slow and only manages to load about 50% of the time.

The shutdown of Parler and the extreme restrictions on Facebook and Twitter have turned social media into an echo chamber of neutered conservatives, RINOs, and rabid liberals. This is a disaster for freedom and a force multiplier for the communists. We are going to have to keep working on ways to push back.

Ridiculous

The President was impeached for trying to overthrow the government. His attempt was unsuccessful because the best people he could come up with for carrying out this plot were a nut in a Viking hat and the cast from Duck Dynasty:

and the terrorists will be prevented from completing this plan in the future, thanks to brave heroes like this guy and his buddies from the National Guard:

Dumbest attempted coup ever

Where I lose it

In the middle of all of the family stuff for the holiday, my heat began giving me problems. The day after Christmas, it was 30 degrees outside. We noticed that the heat pump was making this noise here:

The good news is that I have a service contract, so we called them. The tech calls us and says that as long as the interior of the house is above 40 degrees, it isn’t an emergency, and he will put us on the schedule for the next business day.

The next business day, a different tech shows up and can’t figure out the problem. After making numerous cell phone calls, he comes in to tell us that the reversing valve is bad, and he doesn’t have one. They will order one and return when it comes in.

Two days later, he returns and spends 4 and a half hours replacing the valve.

So over this past weekend, it gets cold again and we notice that the compressor is still making the noise. A third tech comes out and decides it is the compressor. He informs us that only a basic compressor is covered, and if we want to replace it with the same type we have, there is a $250 upcharge.

We agree to the upcharge, so they order the part. A fourth tech shows up to install it. My wife and I had to work, so we had my father in law house sit while the repairmen were here. When I get home, I discover my $200 smart thermostat sitting on the kitchen counter, and an $18 generic Chinese piece of crap on the wall.

It seems that he didn’t know how to work the smart thermostat, so he replaced it. I was upset about that, since the noise that the A/C was making had nothing to do with the thermostat, but whatever. I will put it back in. Except I can’t, because the tech busted the pins off of the thing when he yanked it from the wall.

So now, I have to also buy a replacement thermostat at a cost of $180. It will be here hopefully by Friday. My wife is crying because she thinks that she is the one who screwed up. Not a good night in the Divemedic household.

Did I mention that the family is at least back home?

Meal Team Six

In the news today:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi personally thanked a group of the troops standing at attention in the front of the Capitol…Pelosi gave each of the troops a so-called challenge coin, marking their mission of protecting the seat of the legislative branch of the American government

Here she is, talking to the troops. I want you to pay special attention to the guy I circled in the front:

Here he is, close up.

All I can say is HOLY SHIT! Seriously, this did has a front butt. Doesn’t the NG have a fitness standard? The only thing this fat mother fucker is guarding is the chow line, and what is up with how he blouses his boots?

Just wait until he transfers to the space force.

Republicans: an open letter

There is a growing movement for you to side with the Democrats and vote to impeach President Trump. It will be impossible for any impeachment to take place before the end of his term. At this point, you are probably thinking that this is about support for Donald Trump. That is because you are fucking quisling fucktards that would sell your children into slavery, if it meant that you would have more money and power for yourself.

I am not a Republican. I couldn’t care less about you, your political party, or your personal ambitions. What I do care about is this nation, the freedom of its citizens, and the constitution that safeguards those freedoms. All things that you will sell out if it means your continued feeding at the public trough. I only allied myself with your party because we were nominally supporting the same goals. As soon as your party abandons those goals, we are no longer working towards the same result, and our temporary alliance will have run its course.

The only reason for you to do this is so that you can appease those who would take away those rights by ensuring that Donald Trump cannot run for office again. Meanwhile, you are sitting there appeasing those who are busy running roughshod over those who you are supposed to represent.

They have eliminated the right to vote by stealing the election. They are silencing those who complain, making enemies lists, and going after those who appear on that list. They are plotting to eliminate gun ownership, the right to petition for redress both through speaking in the public square and in the courts, and they are plotting to continue to have us locked in our homes.

Enough. If you do not grow a spine and defend this nation, I will never again vote for a Republican candidate. I won’t donate another dime to your party or candidates, nor will I counsel others to do so. With your lack of support for the President (who was selected by the voters of YOUR party) you ceased to be my ally.

This is fast becoming a war between this nation’s government and its citizens. You are on the cusp of becoming our enemy. Choose sides wisely, for I fear that I am not the only person who feels this way.
