The Giffords center says the allowing people to send guns via the US post office is insecure.

If they are insecure for guns, then how can it be secure enough for ballots?

😜🤣 Dangerous Rule? Criminals don’t need the incompetence of the USPS to get their hands on guns. A quick trip down an alley or formerly good housing section in Da Hood can accommodate that desire far more quickly. The USPS takes forever to deliver mail.Wherever 2Gs gather, you have a 90% chance of being killed. Full Stop.

It’s a bold faced lie. My dad bought several guns through the mail in the 1960’s.

The Federal government is still allowed to mail guns, AFAIK.
I got my issued DCM Garand directly by mail in the 1980s. (After the full Federal background + fingerprint check).

So are dealers, if I am not mistaken. It’s been about 30 years since I gave up my FFL.

There was no Brady check in the 1980’s. Handguns only until 1994, I think. Not a quibble, but facts matter. DCM still mails the rifle to you.

The lamest claim ever. What if the USPS is required to get a signature to hand it over? I think they call it registered mail. It doesn’t have to be legally required, the FFL can choose registered mail themselves.

But groups like the Giffords insist that people intent on committing crimes are going to follow every law in every other detail of their lives.

I once (back when gold was $1000 an ounce) shipped 8 ounces of gold Eagles somewhere. I told them I wanted it registered and insured for $8,000. The post office freaked out and didn’t want to do it. At the end of the day, I pointed out their policies and they did it, but the postmaster came out and forced me to open the package so she could inspect and photograph the contents before they would agree to insure it. The charge for that was almost $200.
Still worth it. I don’t trust any carriers, including FedEx, UPS, or the USPS. Too many of their employees have sticky fingers, and they have lax tracking and security procedures.
