I read about a school shooting in a New Mexico middle school. One 13 year old student shot another. As soon as the name of the school was mentioned, I knew what I would find. I also knew that an NRA member as unlikely to be involved.
The middle school was Washington Middle School. That school has 442 students enrolled, with 410 of them receiving free lunch. Eighty seven percent of the student body is reading below their grade level. Ninety percent of US schools are better than this one in reading and math. One in eight households are single parent households.
To get those absolutely horrid results, taxpayers are paying more than $11,300 per student each year. I would say that this money is being wasted.

NM schools, except in certain very limited cases, are pretty awful.
I’m surprised mostly that only one household in 8 is single-parent; but then, the local heritage and culture does tend to focus more on families than a lot of other places, so maybe I shouldn’t be. It also doesn’t say anything about parental involvement in the child’s education.

If you look at the school statistics at the link provided, this school is 1) in Albuquerque, and 2) is below state average on all measures.
IOW, another blue-hive fail.

Albuquerque has already exceeded its record number of homicides (80, set in 2019) with 4 1/2 months to go.
