Don’t Talk To Police

Shelby County, TN. A man hears noise outside of his house. He sees thieves in his car, trying to steal it and steps outside to confront them. The thieves begin shooting, so the homeowner fires back. At least 30 shots are fired during the firefight, but no one appears to have been hit.

The homeowner admitted to police that he had closed his eyes out of fear during at least part of the gun battle, so they arrested him for reckless endangerment. Note that they have made no effort to try and catch the actual criminals. That would be dangerous and cops want to collect their pensions.

Edited to add: This is Memphis. They have a slimeball of a leftist Democrat prosecutor who literally wrote a book on how Democrats could rig US elections, where he advocated for the Interstate compact, eliminating the electoral college, and eliminating the Senate filibuster to silence Republicans.
He also has been a huge motivator in the defund the police and LGTBQ movements. He’s written articles for SLATE, NEWSWEEK, THE NEW REPUBLIC, SALON, THE HILL, and the HUFFINGTON POST.
I trust him not one iota.
He is a slimeball communist.

The Shelby county sheriff is also a Democrat elected last year. The only platform statements I could find for him were “I want to be the first black Sheriff of Shelby county.”

Yeah, so they won’t try to entrap or misrepresent anything you say. I imagine it going down like this:

Piling On

I was awakened this morning at 5 am by a text message from the charge nurse at my now former job. He wanted to let me know that they were calling me off for my scheduled shift today. I responded that I already knew that, as they had told me last week that I was no longer on the schedule. I respect this nurse and he wasn’t part of the decision to let me go, so no hard feelings.

Then I got another text message from management at 9am that reads:

We removed you from the schedule for the rest of this week. Good luck to you in your new job. Our loss is their gain. Please return your ID badges at your convenience.

I haven’t worked there for 3 weeks. That means I have already received my last paycheck. There is no reason for me to go back there to return my IDs, and it is therefore not convenient to me.

Bad Look?

The Democrats and CNN (redundant, I know) think that this makes DeSantis look bad.

I know that a lot of people out there think he is fake. All I know is what he has done and is doing for Florida. He is doing a great job here, a damned sight more than any other Republican has done for the past 20+ years.

Thanks to Big Country

He pointed me to the MTM tactical magazine cases. I got one as a test, and I can say that they are actually pretty good. It has a double latch, three holes for padlocking the case, and enough room to hold fifteen of the 30 round .223 magazines.

It fits Pmags and HexMags just fine. I will be getting more of them.

Effed Around, Found Out

I reported on prank videos where people stage fake crimes against unsuspecting victims so they can get more social media exposure. I predicted that such a prank in a CCW state would result in someone’s death. What do you know, an idiot in Tennessee who was staging robberies for Tik Tok views got shot and killed by a CCW holder.

The person who did the shooting should sue the people involved in the filming as well as Tik Tok for forcing him to go through the emotional trauma of being so afraid for his own life that he felt like he had to kill someone in order to save himself. Should be good for a few million bucks.

Gaming It

So the ATF outlawed bump stocks and FRTs. Now here is the next way that people have figured out how to turn money (quickly) into noise. Paintball enthusiasts have for years used two fingers to pull the trigger.

In response to this, a company called S&T Inc has come up with an attachment for AR pattern rifles that allows shooters to do the same thing.

They are illegal in Florida, so there is that.

790.222 Bump-fire stocks prohibited.—A person may not import into this state or transfer, distribute, sell, keep for sale, offer for sale, possess, or give to another person a bump-fire stock. A person who violates this section commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. As used in this section, the term “bump-fire stock” means a conversion kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device used to alter the rate of fire of a firearm to mimic automatic weapon fire or which is used to increase the rate of fire to a faster rate than is possible for a person to fire such semiautomatic firearm unassisted by a kit, a tool, an accessory, or a device.

Can’t Use Force

Looting. Stealing. Blocking roads. Gluing themselves to commuter trains. Vandalizing works of art. Damaging 300 year old fountains in Rome. Why does society continue to put up with this? Criminals do it because there are no consequences for their actions. Why? Because we as a society have become too tolerant and have declared that force and violence are not to be used in defense of property.

Maybe it’s time for that to change.

Not Your Money

When you sell real estate at a profit, you have to pay capital gains taxes on the profit. There is an exception to that in the tax code, called chapter 1031. If the proceeds from the sale of the property are held in a third party escrow account and not accessible to the parties involved, and the funds are used to purchase another investment property, the taxes are deferred.

Biden says that this amounts to an interest free loan from the government to the investor. It’s as if he thinks that this money belongs to the government and the only way you keep some of it is because you are somehow using a loophole, even though it is actually part of the tax code. Unless he gets is way, of course.

What Biden wants to do is eliminate that chapter of the tax code, thus forcing the seller to pay the capital gains taxes upon sale without the deferral that has been available for a century.

Where Did He Get It?

President Biden announced a $250 million donation to the World Bank, and another $375 million to Ukraine. I know that all spending must originate with the House of Representatives, and I also know that we are supposed to be at our debt limit within the next few days. So this begs the question: Where is Biden getting the money and the authority for all of these giveaways?

On a related note, the United States has given $37 billion in aid to Ukraine in the last 18 months. In that same time, all other US aid to all other countries totals $38 billion. Let that sink in.
